Hi Adamj,

Also a new member here and have had nearly all of these symptoms at one time or another. Trust that you are not alone brother. I’m going through a rough patch myself with a ton of stuff hitting me at once. I feel your pain. Are you trying any other methods for relief other than the Paxil? Obviously you’ve been to the doctor for all this and they determined Paxil was a valid approach. Any therapy? Have you looked into any type of meditation? I used to have a vitamin d deficiency that was severely elevating my anxiety symptoms and panic attacks. I was temporarily prescribed huge doses of vitamin d while I also forced myself outside more on walks or just sitting in the sun or whatever to get natural vitamin d. Since then I have taken a regular supplement and maintain my outdoor time and it has been fine.

I’m no medical professional, but from my experience, which has been similar to yours, doing anything possible to get out of your head is key. Once you start focusing on one ‘bad’ thing, then the next comes and the next and it spirals out of control. Like focusing in your heart beat, it feels ‘wrong’. Then omg what is wrong. Then it beats harder. Then breath seems off and it gets shallow, then so on and so forth. At some point we need to realize it is in our head causing this and either force change thoughts or just accept it for what it is. Focusing on it makes it worse.

Staying busy is also very important, but tough to do when feeling like crap. I force myself on walks or other outdoor activities and, no matter how bad I feel beforehand, I feel better afterwards 100% of the time. Not saying it will work for you, but it works for me in a pinch. Releasing those endorphins is very important for healthy brain activity.

Learning and exercising mediation can also be a huge help! Meditation doesn’t have to be weird or difficult. You could simply lay down, close your eyes, and focus say on the contours of your nose. Any thoughts that interrupt, accept them and refocus on your nose, trace the contours and work your way up, etc…. Very simple, yet can be very effective.

Please know you are not alone! Be well, you can get through this and prosper!
