I'll listen to some music and then tune in to the big football match that's on this evening between Eintracht Frankfurt and Glasgow Rangers. Also, reflect on something difficult I managed to do today, attend a group workshop on returning to employment.
Awesome River of hope -I love your name. I need hope now more than usual. I’m in bad shape I am sick by my own doing. I drink and even though I feel sick I keep drinking. I was always an athlete but since I put on pounds it’s harder but more needed than ever. I think today is my last day of drinking. I hope forever. If it were not for my kids I’d leave this world but they are my rock. I need to do this for them and for me. I don’t know why this is so hard for me right now. I hate alcohol. Sorry I went off there. Hope you enjoy your day!
Thanks, I'm sorry things are tough for you right now, which I noticed on another recent post of yours. The drinking situation sounds difficult, is there anywhere you can turn to for some extra help? I hope you're able to find extra strength and push through where you are currently & return to the running/athletic side of things.
Thoughts are with you.
Thanks your kind words means lot to me. Once my foot heals completely i think in a few days I will be able to walk and run like I love to do so that will take the place of alcohol. I also talk with my psychiatrist and therapist tomorrow.
As long as the weather is halfway decent I walk and walk and walk. I’ve also gotten back into reading a lot instead of being on the internet so much
This has been my goal too. I tailor it to the amount of time available. I was getting somewhere last week but this week is a challenge. If you are an apple person apple fitness has these great walks. They are inspirational people who walk and talk at the same time. Then (because apple music) they recommend some music. It is a good format.
I have a few activities that alternate between. I go to the gym, write stories (to be published someday), read stories, chip away at my list of home improvements, and watch movies and shows. I also like coming on here to answer positive thinking posts like these. If there aren't any up, I'll try to start a positive thinking post of my own. But a couple of times, there were questionable responses that stressed me out and made me feel like I had to moderate the thread, which I didn't enjoy. So thank you for posting this thread for me to participate in.
Gardening for me when the weather allows, Crochet when not, love walking but can’t go too far these days
I first try to dismiss the thoughts with an affirm logic. Like shut up you said this before and nothing happened lol
Sometimes to engage or distract I play video games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Phoenix wright attorney at law on my Nintendo switch.
Put down the game and go to bed earlier. I am in a cycle. I am super busy at work. It is work I like. I can be ADD when that happens. I just don't stop. I work at home so I can be tethered to a computer all day. Then I need to chill but I don't have energy to do real exercise so I watch a show. I have to do PT but I procrastinate and then don't do it. I can't concentrate on my book. Then i recently got addicted to a game which I play until midnight. And because of the blue light I can't fall asleep. Then my cat wants me to get up as soon as the sun is up. Super annoying about it too.
I know what to do. I just have to make myself do it. That was really more of a rant but I think I answered your question... somewhere in there.
I want to see how your cat behaves toget you up lol! Yeah it’s the doing it part you know getting started that’s the hardest I think.
Take a nap or go to bed early. Haven't been getting much sleep the last three or four days and the sleep I have gotten has been very restless. And I brushed Oliver TWICE. Sounds odd to some people but it's sensory and calms me.
Beautiful cat!!! Awwww bet a happy one at that. I go to bed early too and wake up early. Lately not good sleep here either so I took a nap today which I never do. I can understand how brushing Oliver would help.
What I need to do is drink more water less alcohol 🍸. Eat more veggies and less pastries . Get up and get active instead of spending all day in bed and all night on the sofa . Also get a job should be high on my to do list.
But In reality I will do none of the above and drift along until something drastic makes me change . I think we are all good at giving advice and answers but definitely in my case am very poor at following good advice
Depending on what is bothering me and how strong I am emotionally, I might listen to.onr of my favourite relaxation apps or do some knitting or sewing. I have just started to paint watercolours also, so if it's a nice day Imay take myself outside and paint away!?
Hi Starrlight, thank you for your email. I met a gentleman on this chat line by the name of Jeff1943. He introduced me to the works of Dr. Claire Weekes. She wrote many books on self help for the nerves. She proposed four principles of - Face, Accept, Float, and Let time pass. I bought a couple of her books, and I have been following these principles. I can actually say I have been meditating on these words.
I can really identify with Dr Weeks’ books. It thoroughly explains what is going on in my head and I’m trying to use her methods in my practice. She was a woman ahead of her time!
Keep looking up! I used to watch a show back in the 80’s about astronomy and the presenter of the show was so upbeat and would tell about the amazing world of the stars and planets around us. I remember to look up at night and marvel at the millions of stars that on a clear night one can see. Don’t ever lose your sense of wonder. Your name says it all!
YouTube has wonderful meditation music videos. Having that on in the background at home is very soothing. Some have just one image on the screen, others change images with gorgeous, peaceful nature scenes. I especially like Jason Stephenson's videos.
