I wanted to ask anyone. Has anyone been allergic to a new bed or mattress. I feel pretty bad, I just bought a new bed and already it has caused congestion and making breathing and sleeping a but tough. Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

Allergic to new bec
No, however I did have bedbugs once. The symptoms are different, however --itch bites and welts.
I wonder if is some dust in my room.
All kinds of chemicals are added to fabric for different reasons. Some can have a def effect when breathed in. You might try getting a heavy duty mattress cover. Some covers even come with plastic on the under side. Try that or return the mattress for a different brand. 🍀
Hope to God. This is something bad I am inhaling.
Hi jwhitleyjr....most mattresses are covered under warrantee for a while.Don't make the mistake I did and wait too long. Within 2 weeks of buying
my mattress from Home Shopping Network, the mattress started to sink
in. I never made that call and now years later have to purchase yet another one.
With the issue you are having, I don't feel you would have any problem
returning it. If it is something within the mattress itself that's irritating
your lungs, I don't think it will be disguised for long with a cover.
This is important to your medical health my friend. Good Luck xx
And this is so sickening after the money I spent for it.
Yes, the down topper nearly killed me. Don’t risk your sleep get a different bed.
I found out I was allergic to down….goose duck all of the feathers. It literally took my breath.
Wow I don't believe this. I am sorry. How long was it before you returned your bed?
I had just moved in with my now husband and I made it about 45 minutes in the bed before I went to go sleep on the couch. We had a new bed by the end of the week.
So you just started choking?
I started sneezing, hard to catch my breath, my eyes were burning, instant massive congestion … gosh there was so much snot and phlegm that I was coughing. It is an odd sensation where you were trying to cough the phlegm out of the back of your throat and you’re sneezing at the same time. I was actually choking. Ended up with a massive headache from the coughing and destroyed the inside of my throat for a few days.
As a test the next day, because everything had cleared up within an hour or so of me going to the couch, I went back into the room and within just a matter of a minute or two again with the congestion and hard to breathe & the eyes and everything.
You spend a third of your life sleeping. It’s necessary for your sanity. If this bed you have is not healthy for you go get a different bed. I’m sorry you’re going through this.
What is it made of? I would return and get one that is allergy resistant.
About to go and get one that is allergy resistant. It seems like it's getting worse.
I wonder if all of this is supposed to teach me something.
Maybe? What? I’ve had an ongoing disagreement about the need for my cousin to replace her guest mattress which is like a board. She moved it to a rental. I think someone is going to send a medical bill because last weekend i think I got bursitis (?) after two nights. I’m a side sleeper. My leg was in pain from hip to calf for four days. I have an invite for the summer but that bed. Idk if I can do it. I almost wish someone would send a bill or bad review because she doesn’t listen to me.
Whats the bed made out of? Does it have memory foam in it. Memory foam is made from toxic chemicals. I was in the mattress business for 10 years.
eddie, thanks for letting us all know the ''behind the scenes'' info.
I need a mattress myself and am confused as in what to buy. xx
Why sell something toxic? I mean come on. I guess anything for money.
It isn’t toxic. They off gas at first which is smelly. Processing them might be bad for environment but they are not harmful. You can buy them made of natural materials too.
Sorry but there is no such thing as natural memory foam and they are made using toxic materials. Memory foam is the dirtiest foam you can buy. You are a victim of marketing. But free to think what you want.
Common harmful chemicals that were historically found in memory foam mattresses include:
Methylbenzene: Methylbenzene, more commonly known as toluene, is a clear liquid that occurs naturally in crude oil. Toluene is toxic when inhaled in large quantities.
Formaldehyde: Formaldehyde sometimes results as a by-product of the foam manufacturing process, though this is much less common nowadays. Formaldehyde fumes can irritate the eyes, nose and mouth, and it is known to be a human carcinogen.
Methylene Dianiline: Used as a reactant in the foam manufacturing process, methylene dianiline causes irritation when coming into contact with skin, and may be carcinogenic.
Methylene Chloride: Formerly used as a blowing agent, this substance is a suspected carcinogen and can pose serious health risks if it comes into contact to the skin or mucous membranes.
Chlorofluorocarbons: Chlorofluorocarbons were formerly used as a blowing agent, but use of these substances is now limited because of their ozone-depleting effects.
I love it when people who “worked in the industry “ 10 years ago think they know it all. Nectar makes one. I believe saatva does to but I got things to do. medicalnewstoday.com/articl...
I didn't just work in the industry, the company I worked for made them. I do know. And it wasn't 10 years ago, I said I work selling the mattresses for 10 years. Even on a supportive site we still find people like you. You need to be a part of your own recovery. Stop trying to pick fights. LOL I'll pray for you.
