Freaking out!!!!!

Hi guys. I’m 24 years old, Since the 1st on January I’ve had pain in my side/back I went to see and out of hour DR who told me I had a urine infection and prescribed me antibiotics.. I couldn’t get these antibiotics as the pharmacy was closed for 3 days due to the new year. I called back again and they told me to go back in to which a dr done a dip test of my urine and told me the infection was gone.. fast forward to now. I’ve missed a period, my last was the 25th of November, I’ve had FOUR pregnancy tests 3 being my doctor and out of hours and all have come back negative. I was told to go to a and e tonight where a nurse told me I do infact still have a urine infection but she couldn’t tell me why my period has been missed and I’ve to wait for blood tests on Wednesday. My tummy feels really full and bloated to the point I feel like I’m going to pop. Along with a missed period I have so many things racing through my head. Cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, bowel cancer ect and I can not relax at all. The missed period is really getting to me. Why does my tummy feel full and bloated 😭😭😭😭 freaking out to the point I cried the whole day yesterday from when I woke up to bed time. I’m really freaking out :(

Sorry for ranting xx

First, sorry you're going through all of this! Sounds like you're miserable! I know you're wanting someone to reassure you that nothing is wrong. But none of us can do that, since we're not doctors, and you wouldn't believe us anyway. You are at an age where there are all sorts of reasons you can skip a period. And all the symptoms you mentioned can point to scary things. But, with anxiety (I'm the queen of this!), our minds forget all about the other 100 things it could be and just hone in on the scary ones!! But a therapist once told me, until an actual medical professional tells you have X, Y or Z, you're just making scenarios up in your mind and scaring yourself. Could they happen? Yes. There's always the chance. Problem is, we with anxiety always assume the chance in a 99% likelihood it will happen. We never consider it could be on the other end of the spectrum, such as a 0.002% chance. And the therapist also told me that you can sit and worry about the 'what ifs' and ruin your days. But, in the end, if you do end up having what you've been fearing, you'll handle it the same way as if you hadn't worried about it! I read somewhere about this example: A person is afraid their house will catch on fire, so they spend their days sitting on the couch, fire extinguisher in hand, ready for the day if it happens. They go nowhere, lest they are caught off guard. So they sit, waiting. Another person knows a fire 'could' happen, but they go about their lives as always, not thinking about if a fire might happen. Lo and behold, both houses catch fire. The one who spent their life sitting on the couch with the fire extinguisher, jumps up, calls the fire department and uses the extinguisher. The other person, seeing the fire, grabs a fire extinguisher and calls the fire department! Both did the exact same thing when faced with the actual danger, yet one lived a miserable life waiting for it to happen. So the moral is, most likely what we fear wont happen, but if it does, we're going to respond to it the same way we would as if we never feared it! Is this always easy to do? No!! I'd highly suggest googling DARE anxiety relief and watch some of their videos on youtube. Be sure to look at the four Steps, and google "what if, by Michelle Cavanaugh" (she's a counselor for DARE). I got this recommendation from someone in this group and it's helped me more than anything! Hopefully you'll get some help for your anxiety as you wade through trying to get answers to other concerns. Take care!

fromzerotopanic has said it all. I don't know as much as she does but I completely agree with her. Try to relax a bit (trust me I know how hard it is, but try). My period was 9days late.. was supposed to get it on the 1st of January but it came on the 10th, yesterday. My brother really freaked out because he was sure as I am that I wasn't pregnant. For me, there was no need for a PT test but my brother asked me to get a medical scan to see if I've got fibroid or something like that. I haven't gone for the scan and yeah I fear a little but I'm still calm about it. I know 9 days is nothing compared to a whole month but I need you to relax and get on with your life; don't just sit and cry all day. We are here for you.. you can tell me about the results when you have them and I'll also tell you the outcome of my scan.. sending love and hugs. ❤️❤️

Don't make up your mind that you have something too quickly. it's much better to wait and find out that it is probably nothing serious. Dr Google has a lot to answer for!
