Numbness
Experience says when you need to step back and just observe events. I keep going numb but shocked back into reality. Depends if you are just lulling along I think. It’s okay just cope the way you can and think about it later
Thank you Foggy , I’m trying to cope but it gives me blame when I don’t feel anything and scares me in relationship.
Hi
I have been having issues in my relationship. Although they tell me I’m seeing problems that aren’t there.I’ve been feeling numb too! When you say you feel numb in your relationship what do you mean exactly? Sorry I think I may be feeling similar but not quite sure ?
Hello Tigerlilly , for me numbness is like having no observable feelings for my partner and feeling not happy together, although in my mind I do care about her and because of that I feel terrible why should I not feeling anything at the moment. How long are you guys together?
Hi hope your ok today?
Yes I feel the same, some days just feel nothing. I have been with my partner for over 10 years. I love them and can’t see my life with out them, but I feel alone with them. I not sure I want them but don’t want anyone else or to loose them either! I have spoke to couples who have been together a while. How long have you been together? And I’ve found a lot of couples have this and are together out of habit if you like but with the feeling of love for each other. Maybe do some fun activities together or something to re-light the spark if you like helps.
Also the thought of them not being in your life anymore can be a wake up call that u care and don’t want to loose them, even though you say you know you care.
I also have low mood, anxiety so could be that like the others say we block out all emotions. I don’t have any answers myself I too am confused
A lot of people with anxiety say they cannot feel love or joy and find that very distressing. They will commonly say they KNOW they love their family, their partner and kids, but they can't FEEL it.
I believe what happens is that when we suppress the emotions of anxiety, sadness etc. because they are so intense, we also end up suppressing emotions we do want to feel. Emotions come in a bundle, though, so unfortunately we don't get to pick and choose which we feel and which we don't. I think we need to experience them all as best we can. I think we must allow our sadness if we wish to also feel joy, and our fear and anxiety if we wish to feel love.
These feelings will return, when your anxiety is less intense.
Thank you CarlJames , you are very much right and I think I shouldn’t be scared of my anxiety ad numbness , cause I feel bad about that and blame myself ( I actually cry because of that and think I’m a bad guy ) It’s just this thought that says if you don’t feel right so probably you should go and not hurt her feelings.
Are you experiencing any other symptoms? That sounds like it may be more like depression than anxiety. Have you talked to a doctor? Meds might help
Hi this Is Shnookie. For me numbness indicates depression at certain times in my life. After my mom died from metastatic pancreatic cancer and I was her sole caregiver , after her funeral I became numb. I thought myself, I would rather be sobbing and letting my grief out. After this I had a bad cold/virus and finally healed and then went out of the house and went to a bereavement group and the numbness slowly started to go away. I’m here for youHugs 🤗S.
