I don't have anyone I can talk to regarding the overwhelming anxiety that I've been experiencing for the past three months. I feel isolated and unsupported. It's gotten so bad, that I've often thought about ending my life, just so I can get relief from the trigger that is causing me to feel the way I do.

Overwhelming Anxiety
Dearest Starfleet12, you now have someone you can talk with and share yourfears and anxiety. Starting with the trigger, do you know exactly what is causing
your emotional pain? That is a very important start. What happened 3 months ago
that put you into this tailspin of fear?
Anxiety doesn't deserve you even thinking of leaving this life. Things can be worked
out or at least accepted. And we can help you take the steps necessary to get to where
you want to be again.
Anxiety happens when we feel trapped in a situation. Once you talk with others who
understand and feel the same way, loneliness becomes less an issue.
I too at one time experienced overwhelming anxiety. The difference is that I never gave
up hope that I would overcome anxiety (and I did).
I'd like to Welcome you to this amazing forum. It's a place you can come 24/7 and always
find someone to talk with. Talking out your fears can be a step forward in healing.
I'm glad you are with us. xx
A loud, low-frequency noise started to be emitted from an AC unit that sits on the roof of the building where my apartment is. In the beginning, I tried to contact the leasing office so they could do something about it, and I kept doing this until they relented and sent an AC technician to look at the issue. Unfortunately, the technician didn't find anything out of the ordinary, so he left; the noise didn't. I became increasingly overwhelmed with anxiety, and the leasing office wouldn't do anything because they didn't consider my situation an issue worth dealing with. I eventually contacted the company's corporate office, and they put me in contact with the regional manager for Arizona. She was able to get the regional maintenance supervisor to improve the situation, which he did, but it's still not enough, I can't be relaxed knowing that the noise will come back several times throughout the day. The regional manager has said several times that nothing more can be done, which I highly doubt. I've contacted the corporate office again, hopefully, someone higher than the regional manager can help end this nightmare.
Well Starfleet, that is quite a predicament that you are in.I can tell you that there is no way that I could handle that sound
everyday. Our nervous system is over sensitized to begin with that
sounds, lights and smells can bring up our anxiety.
Depending where you live, I would assume that your apartment building will be turning off the A/C for the season. When I lived in an apartment, Air and Heat were seasonal.
I guess I didn't have it so bad that my unit was just outside the laundry room. Washers
and Dryers going on throughout the day and early evening.
Back to your situation....any other tenants hear that same low frequency sound?
I'm thinking if you all sign a petition if that would make a difference.
Gee Starfleet, I've got a pocket full of tools for anxiety but none of them would
work for blocking this sound.
Please keep posting on this site. You never know what others may come up with.
We're here for you xx
Hopefully, I'll start seeing a therapist not too far in the future, who can help me better cope with the trigger.
Starfleet, I hope a solution of some sort can be worked out with your therapist.I wish you my best. But know that we are still here for you.
My congratulations on being a volunteer with a Crisis Line.
You are so needed but now it's time for someone to help you with
your issues.
Please keep us updated, we care. xx
Hi Starfleet12, I know it can be hard and lonely. (My main issue is depression, but lately with all the stuff going on in the world, I now have anxiety too!)
I like your username. Were you thinking of Star Trek? What character is your favorite?
About anxiety: sorry for the obv question, but Can you find a therapist in your area? Have you tried working with any therapists?
Here are some thoughts:
Anxiety is a highly treatable condition. There are tools you can learn to manage it. I’ve learned a lot from cognitive behavioral therapy. If you have PTSD please find someone who is trained in treating trauma.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) also has some free peer support groups. It’s not therapy but it’s a way to find people who understand how you feel and who have ideas and recommendations. nami.org/Support-Education/...
If you find yourself needing to talk to someone immediately, please text the NAMI Crisis Text Line at 741741 - you can read about it here: crisistextline.org
If you could, would you think of moving?
That is definitely not an option.
I see. 🤔
Yeah. I feel like the parent company that owns the apartment complex is putting profits before my well-being.
Of course, you’re right. Have you thought about a lawyer?
They said that I can't do anything because the noise level doesn't exceed the lawful limits and that if I pursue a legal route, I may end up getting evicted.
What a situation for you to be in! I’ve got other ideas, but I might come across like a therapist. No can do. Who is they? A lawyer or the people who own the building?
A lawyer I contacted.
Sorry, I had to nap a bit. I guess I’ve run out of ideas. You already know what to do about your anxiety, since you work on a crisis line. Hopefully your last communication with the corporate office will be answered and will contain some encouraging news.I had an apartment that was flooded. I went to a lawyer and was told I should have had renters insurance. The damage wasn’t sizable, but I realized how few rights a renter has. That was 40 years ago . If I had been a bit older, I would have pushed harder to make sure I had done everything I could for resolution. There wasn’t internet back then, so I didn’t have the ability to contact others with like experiences. The US is asleep now. Maybe someone in the morning will have some better ideas for you. My best to you. 🏄♀️
