I have Covid and I’m really struggling

Hello fellow people who know what we go through! Ive needed a little extra encouragement these past few days. I was diagnosed with a positive Covid test this past Saturday. I am fully vaccinated, and have had very mild symptoms thus far. Thank the good lord!

Mentally, I am spiraling. And feel like I was already prior to the diagnosis, with all the new surge, other world events, finances, etc.

Mornings are the worst. Shaky, don’t know what to do with myself, the never ending cycle of irrational fears plus now the actual real fears of a having Covid. And Of course the mandatory staying home from work until next Monday.

So here is how the conversation goes in my head….how much worse will I get? Is the tightness in my chest from Covid or anxiety? Is my shortness of breath from the Covid or the anxiety. If I have a full on panic attack, will my racing heart kill me this time because of the strain of Covid?

My anxiety has been well controlled with escitalopram for years. But the last year has really taken its toll.

Thank god I have an amazing husband who understands me and is quarantined with me.

Any thoughts?

Good morning! I am sorry you are going through this! You are blessed to have a supportive husband to help you through this. I had Covid last year and my husband got it 5 months later. I know everyone's body reacts differently, but I can say that my symptoms lasted about 14 days, with only a fever for days 2, 3 and 4. Then I was just tired and very scared I was going to give it to the rest of my family. I did have a slight cough and chest felt tight off and on until the end of the 14 days. I was just really tired there at the end. It DOES mess with your head in that you get a depressed feeling that makes you feel like you want to get rid of anything that reminds you of how bad you felt, if that makes sense... My husband said he wanted to burn the recliner and redecorate the living room because he hated how bad he felt while he sat in that chair. But that feeling went away shortly after recovery. So I never got to redecorate...lol. I had a Bible verse on the back of my closet door that learned to memorize while I laid in bed for those 5-6 days. That helped. Anyway, I hope you feel much better very soon. It's hard to wait through those days of feeling bad. They seem to last forever. But they don't, thankfully. I will be praying for you and your husband both.

Thank you so much for the response GG! It does help to know that others like me have survived Covid. I am on day 5. It sounds like I have it so much better than others have had. I’m so glad you recovered but so sorry you haven’t gotten to redecorate lol.

The bible verse is not going to help you if you get Covid again, but the vaccs and booster will help you. You and your husband had a severe case, but wouldn't have gotten it that bad if you would have gotten your vaccs and booster. I hope you are not one of those people that listens to what Trump said about vaccs. Trump had all his vaccs and booster. Do you think he cares about other people. It's a power trip for him.

Hello.. I’m sorry for what you’re going through. I don’t know what to say but I know u will get through this. Stay strong and try to keep calm.because worrying won’t help in anyway ,you have to focus on the present, not the past or future. You can do it. Get well soon 👍 And Hi5 ur self in the mirror..😃

Hey there. I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. I have Anxiety Disorder, Health Anxiety and OCD, so I can completely understand the mental effects this is having on you. If it’s any help at all, my husband and daughter got covid in January- it was a much stronger strain than the one that’s going about now. My husband had only a headache and felt tired and was completely well by the time his isolation ended. My daughter had what was more like a rotten head cold. No fever and just tired. Completely recovered by end of isolation. And neither had their vaccine yet. I do know a few people who are double vaxxed and have tested positive and their symptoms have varied - a couple have lost taste and smell, but only for a couple of weeks. One had a fever for a day, then just felt really tired with a mild cough. The other felt no symptoms at all.

I was talking to my gastro yesterday and he works at a major trauma hospital and he said the only people in his hospital with covid are there because they refused the vaccine.

Xxx

You will. We’re living with constant threat just now - and for too long. So you’re going to feel scared. I do too. Even the whole upheaval of isolating and shuffling our lives around makes me really freaking agitated. Even if you have to take your days ten minutes at a time, you’ll get through this. Keep us posted how you are xx

Just like your doctor said, the unvaccinated end up in the hospital. Notice, your friends that were vaccinated, got very mild cases and didn't end up in the hospital. So get your vaccs and the booster. It may save your life. Good luck

Yes, after you are cleared from Covid, make sure you get the booster. They say that if you get the booster, it will protect you more. I have had all shots and booster, and so far I am fine. In the news, they will have a 2nd booster for people 60 and over, and I am getting that booster, too, as soon as they release it. Also, make sure you wear a mask when going to the store or you are with lots of people, and wash your hands before and after you go to store.

Just think, you got a mild case because you got the vaccs. You did the right thing. If you didn't get the vaccs, your Covid could have been a severe case and possibly die, so feel lucky, and smart that you got those vaccs.

Get that booster, also. They say you have a better chance of not getting Covid.

Good luck!!!
