Hi all I’m on 50mg sertraline, been having trouble staying asleep all night since prescribed them. Doctor has now prescribed mitrazepine 15mg, she said to take half a one before I go asleep to help sleep, anyone have any good experiences on them and what sort of side effects? Cheers

Most AD drugs can cause similar problems and you seem to have been informed by your Doctor, sleep can be a problem, you may wake up early morning. When I first took this type of medication I had a problem with my sleep, I took most of my AD medication one hour before sleep and that did help, although I could still have problems sometimes with unsettling thoughts.
Now as I get older, at seventy I now wake up twice in early morning and I have begun to put that down to a weak Bladder.
I do not know how long you have been taking your medication, sometimes it may help to allow time for the drugs too settle, starting at about five weeks.
Be patient.

I have nothing nice to say about most SSRIs so... 😶
I was stuck on Paxil for a VERY long time (as in physically addicted because of its short half-life and crappy doctors). I was given Mirtazapine to help me sleep and it also helped me get off of Paxil, I was so grateful! Before I started taking Mirtazapine I had a lot of trouble getting meaningful rest or keeping a schedule, it's worked wonders for me in helping me get some great sleep. My anxiety is a part of PTSD and I have seen a lot less awful nightmares with Mirtazapine as well, I really get a lot of good out of it
Hi I take sertraline - 150 mgs, and my doctor told me to take them all in one go in the morning as they can impede sleep a bit.
I am also on 15 mgs of mirtazapine as well. I only took half for a long time as it was sufficient to make me sleepy but now I take the full dose. I find it really helps me to relax and sleep. Everyone is different though but I hope they help you.
Hi - I took Paxil for some time with very good results. Now, I am taking duluxitine, but it is no help at all. My doctor now tells me that all SSRIs can cause low sodium if you are older, so he will not prescribe anything. I may ask him about mirtazapine (I think called Remeron here). My understanding about it, though is that it causes a lot of weight gain. Any thoughts, let me know. xx.
PS. I am a terrible bumpkin. I usually wear short shorts & tube tops & flip flops to all occasions, even formal ones. I always talk at the top of my lungs too. Plus, I hope you know this trick -- when talking to someone who speaks NO English, always get right in their face and yell as loud as possible. b1🤣🤣
Oh dear this site has definitely gone downhill in the last few years since we now allow boob tubed flip flops Americans in. What would James the butler think I wonder? And isn't it cold in the winter dear? Flip flops in the snow and all that daaarling. 😁🤣 x
Hi, I'm on 50 mg of Sertraline, I take mine right before dinner, so like 6:30 in the evening, then I usually go to bed by 11 pm, and I don't have any sleep problems. Maybe try taking your meds at a different time in the day, that might help some (ofcourse consult with your doctor first). That's the tricky part about meds, they all affect us differently so there is a lot of trial and error to find what works for you.
