Started Sertraline

So yesterday I took my first 25mg dose of sertraline. I also registered with the vitaminds service the day before. However no slots available for months so I decided I need some sort of assistance now. Phoned Gp and I will have a review on the medication at the end of the month. Now I have a couple of questions being new to all this well not new but untreated

1. I took my first Sertaline at around 1230pm Yesterday, I am thinking of taking it earlier today possibly 10am or so, does it matter if you take it a couple of hours earlier than the previous dosage?

2. I am also prescribed propranolol 10mg. Can you still take this while on sertaline provided you space them out or should I wean off?

Like I say I am new to anti depresants, hopefully they will help me out.

Thanks in advance for the replies

You should be able to take the sertraline a few hours before or after the time you normally have taken it. The 2 hours you mention should not change it's effectiveness. Also, as for the propranolol.....I would most certainly not take or wean yourself off from it unless told to by your physician. I assume you are taking it for anxiety which is fine. I also take a beta-blocker for anxiety in addition to the anti-depressant. Taking both in my opinion should be just fine. Now, remember I am not your physician, but in my experience you are doing just fine and I believe you will find that both of these medications will help you.

1. It shouldn't matter, but if you miss a day, don't take 2 the next day.2. I've been taking both (higher doses) for quite a while.

Keep in mind that it usually takes 2 - 3 weeks for sertraline to take affect and make a difference.

you may have to wait for effects to pass. Try not to be impatient. It’s hard but once the meds get to work. It’s well worth it
