Sertraline and pacing

Did anyone get pacing on sertraline and needing to go to the toilet a lot?! Other than that the side effects haven’t been too bad but it’s been a month and I’ve not stopped moving or going to the toilet so pretty exhausted...please let me know if you went through the same thing...I’m only on 25mg and didn’t have these problems before x

Are you having exactly the same problem? What dosage are you on? I’ve only been on them a week and I can tell they help but the pacing and weeing are relentless and it’s causing bladder pain x

I was on 50mg for nearly a year but the last few weeks my anxiety has been out of control so doctor put me on 100mg about two weeks ago, I find im restless at lot but I don’t know if it’s because I sometimes start to panic 😟

Ah ok x I’ve never been restless like this and I panicked more off meds...it could be linked I’m sure but if you were restless on 50mg until it kicked in then the same will happen when you go up xxx

I wasn’t restless on 50mg 😟

But they say when you up your medication it will get worse before it gets better and can take two to six weeks to kick in

Oh ok I was when I took it for a month, trying it again slowly. I’m sure it wll settle or maybe you might end up dropping to 75mg. Positive thoughts to you and remember it takes six to eight weeks to level out xx

Yes, I understand you. I'm on 50 mg for 4 months now and I can't go somewhere for a long time as I'll need to go to the toilet. Don't feel much effect of medication neither. I'm still worried if the medication is right. However, my doc calms me down and says I need time to see it'll work, the same is stated on canadapharmacy.com/ in meds description.

Yes, I relate to the pacing! The night-time pacing...was crazy for me. I was started on 50mg in July. Ended up in emergency--extreme anxiety. The on-duty Dr prescribed ativan + zoplicone both those drugs depress the central nervous system. It was horrible. Took most of the day to get back any energy. As well, anxiety/depression didn't improve. After 4 weeks my GP took me off the Zoloft (gradually) while switching to 15mg Mirtazapine - it has its own side effects ( particularily stiff/achey joints for me --different for everyone) But, my anxiety has improved and zero depression. AND he weaned me off the ativan and zopiclone. I never, ever, never, ever!!! want to see another ativan. Good luck with your journey.

That’s interesting! I’m still having the same problems on escitalopram….I tried mirtazapine but paced and was restless on that and didn’t help depression or anxiety but only managed 10 days - how long before you saw improvements? Probably didn’t give it enough time….. I also had nightmares…yes I had stiffness x

Hi Vicss: I'm not familiar with escitalopram. I have been on 15 mg of mirtazapine for 4 months. I would say after 2-3 weeks I could feel my 'sense of well being' returning along with a healthy appetite ( which for some people I understand is problematic...but I had lost weight before going on the Mirt, so it was a welcome development.) The depression lifted. Anxiety reduced and I felt motivated to ' get going '.( no pacing/restlessness). It does have the physical side effects with achey/sore joints/occasional light-headedness --BUT for now, the mental health benefits far outweigh those side effects. I will talk to my Dr. in early Spring/Summer about the possibility of coming off it. I have read other posts about the Mirtazapine induced 'nightmares'. I had none of that. Everyone seems to have different reactions. But to answer your question --again from my experience, my Dr.'s and anecdotal...you should feel an improvement within 2 weeks (unlike the SSRI--which can be 4-6 weeks?) Good luck and I hope you find something that works for you.
