Postitive or negative? Did it help or hurt? I am new to this community but trying to find some answers about how I should proceed. I started with a bad practitioner who did not set it up properly/could not see me as frequently as I needed. I finally found someone who can see me twice per week but I am scared. I had some very bad side effects after a major life event and ended up with panic attacks waking me up during the night, all-day unease, major depression, etc. Praying for recovery or with time for it to settle but if we are going back in for it..who knows.

EMDR Experiences?
I did it. It's hard therapy. Revisiting past events. But it did help me. I was able to put some things into perspective.
I'm sorry you started out with someone that didn't help. They do have to be specially trained for this. I hope you have luck with it.

I have not experienced it personally but I have read of it bringing relief to people who have PTSD.
Frequent visits are extremely necessary.
I had great results with emdr and my suggestion is to try to find a emdr therapist who specializes in treating trauma if possible. A good emdr therapist will initially spend time with you familiarizing you with the process and developing trust with you and the process and help you feel safe with your feelings before proceeding. Mine also helped put together a timeline and goals for the process. It also provided me with skills to use outside of therapy.
