Hi

I’ve just been diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I’ve been given Sertraline. Just wondering what anyone’s else experience is on this drug.

I’m 50 and it was 20yrs ago since the last time this effected me!

Hi mrsgriff. I'm 54 (male) and started on Sertraline (50mg) Nov 20. I'd been resisting Anti-depressants but finally gave in as spiralling downwards! Depression.

My experience so far has been relatively ok. I do find approx 30 mins after I've taken them I feel a bit light headed for a short while. I do feel a little more chilled out. Whether that's coincidence I have no Idea. One of the more personal negatives is I have lost my libido which I have read is quite common!

All the best.

Hi Ray, I must admit I’d been fighting not going on them too. My father suddenly died 18 months ago which kicked off my anxiety and panic attacks, covid didn’t help. Then in April I found out my husband had been seeing someone else. It knocked me for 6 to say the least. We’re working it out but I had to give in and get help. I’m constantly crying and have a pounding heart. Hopefully they will help me calm down. Hope you get your libido back. Thank you

Hi mrsgriff. That's tough to hear and guessing you were close to your father. I'm certainly not going to give advice on your relationship as that's private, but extend the sentiment that it works out (if that's what you want).

Yes, Covid has a lot to answer for! I now live on my own and having to "work from home" for the first time in my life. Was a novelty at first but now feel isolated (not lonely). I'm new to this area as moved 150 miles to take this job so I have no immediate friends here either.

Reading up, exercise or walks in the countryside could help? I started couch to 5k in Jan to help my mental health and I think a combination of starting Anti Depressants, running and ultimately accepting that I'll have to live with depression for the rest of my life is helping.

As you well know we have good & bad days. I wish you all the very best in whatever you decide.

Hi Ray, sorry just a quick question. Have you been ok driving on Sertraline? It says ‘reactions maybe impaired’

I’ve been on sertraline before and it caused me more anxiety. Dosnt mean it will for you though, just wanted you to know so if it happens to you too you might know where it’s coming from, seems to be ok for others though . I’m on escitalopram now and no side effects and doing better . 🤗
