No Medicine
JBSI, Welcome new friend.. Happy you are here with us.
I use Meditation and Breathing. It is a daily practice for me
upon awakening, midafternoon and before bed.
I use a combination of different types of meditation which can be
found on YouTube.
Of course, there is always Therapy that can help as well w/o medication. xx
Thanks so much - I do use meditation a d breathing sometimes just wondering what some unique tricks are out there. Thank you and happy to be here.
Unfortunately JBSI, there is no magic wand. I started with a good base foundation
by applying the theory of Dr. Claire Weekes' book/video on "Hope & Help for Your Nerves" She teaches the theory of Acceptance. Never to fight our fears. Accept what
we can and cannot change in our lives.
Re-program our thoughts, using positivity, ridding ourselves of negativity.
It takes work but well worth the outcome.
I have been trained in many different forms of mind control and body relaxation.
I personally am not a believer of holistic practices but that doesn't say it might not
work for you. There are many on this site who will talk about their own journey with
mental health and what they found beneficial. We have to realize that not everything
works for everyone. We all respond differently.
I hope you find what may benefit you. Stay Positive and stay informed on this safe site. xx
Can you join a yoga class or a martial arts class?
I’ve been using a roll on lavender oil as I’m tapering down on my medication due to side effects.
I can definitely understand why you don't want to take medication, no one really wants to!!!! I do take a couple psyche meds but I feel a lot better on them.
Motivational podcasts, crosswords and puzzles, fast walking to music, singing aloud, journalling, learning something new
Forgot an important one, comedy
I've been listening to ASMR videos on YouTube for the last 3 years myself
I’ve been trying to go the no meds route as well. It’s been tough. I’ve taken meds in the past. Like 3 or 4 different ones and all of them made me feel pretty bad. Mind you, I never lasted more than a month on them. I’ve been doing everything that Agora was just talking about. I have my moments of feeling ok but I mostly don’t feel great. I have thought about getting back on meds but I really don’t want to bc I remember how awful I felt on them.
Exercise, healthy diet, focused breathing (for me usually with yoga but meditation works). Talk therapy…Learning how to be resilient when you sink <— skill. Not sure if you are looking for holistic medicine but if I drop any of those above I sink. The resilience kicks in when I recognize this and get back to taking care of myself.
