Last week my job reopened. It was weird 'cause we're on a skeleton crew. Very flattering to be considered an essential team member. So much has changed. The few people that were there are different. Our fearless leader's hair has gone completely gray. Everyone seems to have put on a few pounds. Well, that was expected. Some people are not coming back at all. A few have died. A few have moved away. The doors are locked all the time. When you need a bit of fresh air or to run across the street for lunch you have to get someone to let you out & then back in. There is a certain vibrancy that is missing. I know we are but a few now but somehow we've lost some of our zest. I never expected things to get back to "normal" but I didn't realize that the changes would be so personal.

Oh one other thing. We had one desk chair with lumbar support. It was a race in the morning to see who got the chair. I always switched the chair quick before I did anything else. Now we all have the same uncomfortable chair. I'm bringing a pillow tomorrow. Oh well, should be the worse thing to happen to me, right?

Why do they lock the door? Isn’t that illegal?

they lock up so that people can't just walk in off the street. You need to be fully vaccinated & then take your temperature at the door. Then there is a symptom checklist. When things get back to normal they'll unlock the doors. For now though, we are a rehab center that is open to a wide variety of people. We've had trouble before with the general public. Our members are carefully screened & you need a therapist's recommendation to even get in here. The locked door is probably a good idea right now. I just wish they had someone at the front desk to open & close the door.

Oh now that you say rehab it makes more sense. I hope things are getting better. You didn’t say if you were in the states. They are lifting mandates for vaccinated people. I agree that they should have someone there. Being locked in reminds me of those cocaine rooms in the movies where everyone is naked cutting the powder 😝

I started my current job in the beginning of April last year. Funny to say but it was the best start to be comfortable at a new job. Because of COVID there were only 4 people in office and none of them were my boss. I interviewed with him in February and didn’t see him again until June!
