Hi all . I feel so bad as I really want to have a drink , I mean I know I won't right now as where I'm staying doesn't feel right . That's a good thing really . But I'm worried that once I'm in my own place I'll have one but won't stop . As I know I can be a binge drinker, I also over eat . Good thing is I have only had ten drinks over a period of 7 months . Any advice to help stop the craving for drink and food ??
Want to drink : Hi all . I feel so bad... - Anxiety and Depre...
Want to drink
I'm presuming you haven't been diagnosed as an alcoholic which is where something in our mental make up means we are addicted to drinking to excess on a daily basis.
But if you've only had ten drinks in 7 months I would say you have excellent control over your enjoyment of alcohol and I think you're worrying unnecessarily.
We all want 'more' of the things we enjoy, that's perfectly natural, being an adult in control of our life means knowing when is too much.
It doesn't have to be all or nothing, 2 Grandmar, having a couple of drinks 2 or 3 times a week, even to the point of feeling merry occasionally, is fine imo.
There's no way to stop you craving a drink and nice food but you must exert your will power to know when to stop. I think you may be underestimating your self control.
Maybe . I just know in the passed I have had problems with alcohol. So it scares me when times are hard in my life and I turn to drink . Its only where I'm staying at present that I haven't done it this time round . And my hard times are far from over . But I do appreciate your kind words of support.
Did the alcohol cause problems when you drank? ❤️🏄♀️
Yes it did .
Enough of a problem to fear drinking altogether? ❤️🏄♀️
And you have no control how much you drink once you start?❤️🏄♀️
I never use to no
Yes but I don't want it to be that way
Of course you don’t. No one sets out to depend on alcohol for comfort. But once a person realizes that alcohol is a problem in their lives, it’s nigh impossible to change things by themselves. As only a suggestion, once you realize that, the best support in this world is AA. I’m not saying you are an alcoholic, but AA also helps people understand the downside of alcohol and how to minimize the problem. The rest is left up to you as to what tools you may want to use. There is a way...❤️🏄♀️
