Your feelings come from your thoughts, not your location, is what it means.

I like this! We are not often punched in the face or massaged with feathers. So much of our emotional pain comes from our thoughts. And so much of our healing comes from changing how we think about our feelings.

what do you mean by "changing how we think about our feelings"?

Thanks for asking! In that, I meant emotional literacy. 😀🌿. Emotional literacy means understanding how to read your feelings properly. There is a lot of knowledge on this, but it isn’t mainstream. For example, did you know that no feeling is wrong or bad? 🌿🌈🔮 (it’s how we act on our feelings that can be wrong, like cursing at someone when you’re angry. The anger isn’t wrong, the cursing is).

There are so many facts about feelings, and while they aren’t secrets, they aren’t taught in schools or most families. One of the most important facts about feelings is that naming them and acknowledging them in your body gives you power over them. This is good when you’re feeling depressed or anxious. Merely saying, “I feel anxious,” can work wonders, especially if you follow it up with, “And no feeling is bad or wrong.” And that’s just the beginning.... I hope I’ve intrigued you enough to look into the idea of emotional literacy. 😀

Yes! That blew my mind when I learned that! 😀 Psychologists have been saying it amongst themselves for years, and a therapy called DBT is centered around the idea of primary and secondary emotions.
