When it feels like nothing works

I met with my therapist the other day and discussed how I am riding a rollercoaster. We decided I need something more intensive. I was wondering if anyone has gone through DBT or ACT? I’m looking for a therapist who specializes in these 2 therapies and hope one will help. For any that hasn’t used TMS, I highly recommend it. I’m on a list to start this treatment again. I have used it 2 other times in the last 3 years and I have found it to work wonders. The first two weeks, I’m usually really angry but it goes away. Can’t wait to start again. This is a big difference from where I was 2 weeks ago.

Hi Reader2021. I am currently working on DBT with my therapist. It is difficult for me but it's like retraining my brain for me. But I do think it is helping. I never heard of TMS. I just looked it up briefly. This is different than ECT, correct? I had ECT and I won't get into it here but I'm glad the TMS works for you. I would love to know more about it if you want to message me. I've never heard of ACT either. I also just briefly looked that up and it sounds like a form of therapy that could really be beneficial. Thank you for sharing and keep positive.

TMS is different than ECT. No side affects and is a lot less “brutal” (maybe not the right word but couldn’t think of another). It’s a way to make your brain respond differently.? Not sure how to describe it. I’m hoping to hear some replies from therapists I left messages with yesterday. Crossing my fingers for something to get going. It’s hard being patient when you want the help but have to wait for insurance etc to be approved.

It is very hard. It's exciting to hear you're excited. Very inspiring. And I do agree brutal is the correct word for ECT. One of the biggest things in life I wish I didn't go through. The permanent side effects for me are disabling. Hopefully you can get started soon with your treatment.
