Pregabalin mirtazapine
Hi I’m a newbie to this. I just wonde... - Anxiety and Depre...
Hi I’m a newbie to this. I just wondered if anyone takes Pregabalin and Mirtazapine together?
Hi and welcome! I take one of these.
Thank you x which one? X
Pregabalin
How are you getting on with it? Have you been on it for very long? x
I have been on it since Dec. 2019. I was put on it for a physical syndrome, but am on my way off of it due to serious psychiatric effects (anger, abnormal thoughts, paranoia). Please don't let this hinder you, though. Medicines affect each of us differently. How are you doing on it?🙂
Morning I have been taking it since last February and had little side effects at the beginning but I have put on weight lately. Doctor has decided to up the dosage and change my other medication and I’m having some side effects that I didn’t have before. It’s only day 4 so I’ll give it a week or so and see how I am. I’m not working so I can cope with the effects at home (and we are in lockdown) xAre you still suffering with RLS?
Good afternoon from me! Unfortunately yes, but it is pretty well controlled with the Neupro patch. Lyrica is my secondary medication for it. Thank God too because I'd be in trouble if it was my primary! Weight gain is unfortunately a common side effect of Pregabalin. So is worsened depression (which is where my side effects come from). With my history of depression and suicide thoughts, my neurologist told me to report any signs. I hope the side effects subside for you. I'm assuming you'll be in communication with your doctor once that week or so is up; that is a smart move!
Yes I have a mental health doctor at the moment. Only because I told my GP about it. They would have just left me to it. The mental health doctor seems good. Weight gain is common for both of my medications so I’m going to tackle it straight away. Most people think I’m weird but I have restless feet!
RLS can manifest itself all over the body, so I don't think you're weird to say that.I'm glad that you have a good mental health person!🙂
Well I have at the moment, but they don’t stay with you for long and then you are on your own again. I take Magnesium for my restless feet and it works really well x
What a coincidence! I usedMagnesium oil and it works welll. Have you tried soaking in Epsom salts?
The oil didn’t work so well for me. I take a 250mg tablet every night which seems to stop it x I’ve also acquired tinnitus. The lovely affects just keep coming. Such fun x
Yep, it's lovely alright🙃
Nice talking with you. I'm logging off for the day.
Ok you enjoy the rest of your day. Take care 😊
I take mirtazapine. Works great with combining meds.
Good to hear!
I thought I was replying to the poster.
Hi there! I hadn't seen you here before, so looked at your profile. I see you're fairly new here as well, so welcome!
Hi thanks for your reply. I’ve only been taking the Mirtazapine for 3 days with Pregabalin. I am having a few side effects x
Hi! My mum has been in a terrible way lately with her anxiety. She has just been prescribed Pregabalin today alongside her Mirtazapine. She’s very very nervous about the side effects (as she’s read the leaflet!) May I ask what side effects you’ve had so far? 🙂
Hi to u too. I was taking the pregabalin at 300mg and I’m now taking Mirtazapine 15mg instead of Duloxetine. So I’m not sure which one is giving me the side effects. They aren’t too bad. I just feel a bit drunk just after I take them and I’m a bit clumsy. I don’t think I would be able to drive. I’m only on day 4 though. Did your mum have side effects when she started the Mirtazapine? I have gained some weight which I assume is the pregabalin but I haven’t been as active lately due to not working so I think that’s manageable. Sending love to your mum x
Thanks for replying 🙂 I think if like you, she felt a bit clumsy or even a bit drunk she’d just about cope. She’s read about all the worst side effects thinking she’ll get them! I’m not sure what dose of Mirtazapine she has, but I think she’s been prescribed a low dose of Pregabalin to start (50mg.) She hasn’t really had a great experience on the Mirtazapine prior to now but the doctor has put her back on them after trying a few others. If mum gains an appetite again, that would actually be good as she’s not eaten properly for months and has lost too much weight. It’s really interesting to hear about your experience, thank you x
You are very welcome. It feels very much like tiredness and you feel a bit floaty if that makes sense. But I’ve not taken Mirtazapine before so I’d say it was that more than the increase in pregabalin. I’m not liking the feeling very much, I’m hoping it wears off soon. I was put on 300mg of pregabalin at first and I did freak out a bit that it was a class c controlled drug, but anything was better than the feeling I had from anxiety. 15mg should be ok for her, I hope it works. I usually can’t eat when I have bad anxiety but this time its a bit of a different experience.
Keep me updated about your mums progress if you and your mum don’t mind x
Hi lotus_flower_ Just thought I’d check in! How’s it going with you? How are you feeling?Mums on day 4 of taking the Pregabalin and although she told me yesterday that she didn’t think it was working, I suspect that it is. As you mentioned she’s felt a bit woozy at times and hasn’t been able to do an awful lot. Wondering how long people are normally prescribed this tablet for? x
Morning. I’ve had to lower the dose back down to 300mg a day as I have been feeling too clumsy, tired and foggy in the brain. And my belly has bloated. I’m hoping the Mirtazapine helps with the anxiety more x
Glad your mum is doing better. That feeling she has got will soon go x
I have been on it for nearly a year now. I think it depends a lot on what it is prescribed for x
Welcome, lotus flower!!! I haven’t taken those particular meds but wanted to say that we’re happy to have you with us.....
Im on thrse 2 drugs
Im on these as well
I take both currently!
