Reassurance

Hi everyone! Hoping someone can ease my mind. 2018-2019 I had a major breakdown and was switched from lexapro to buspirone and 150 Effexor. I’ve been doing great the last year. However, I hear the horror stories of going off Effexor. Now all I’m worrying about is going off it! I think this summer I want to try to switch to something else and wean off it. Has anyone had success? Is it as bad as some people make it sound?

Just make sure you talk to your PCP about what you feel. It helps me. Or any other doctor. Blessings.

I had no trouble coming off Effexor - but admittedly, I was on it for only a couple of months. Quit cold turkey, no issues. Incidentally, I had been on Lexapro for years and quit cold turkey - also no issues. Of course, everyone is different. However, I have a question: why quit or even think of quitting if you're doing well? These drugs are on the market to help you. It's evidently helping you - so why worry about it? If you're suffering bad side-effects, that's a different story, of course. Good luck, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
