Basic Meditation - Ch 4: SUMMARY

This is just a recap, or cheat sheet of what I've discussed.

WHY?:

Improve: stress management; anxiety; emotional health; focus; memory; positivity/decrease-negativity; creativity; patience; attention; sleep; pain control

WHAT?:

Attentive, focused relaxation

WHERE?:

Anywhere! But best if a special spot is used. Sitting is best when first starting; on the floor or pillow is a great way to remind your mind and body of the habit.

WHEN?:

Anytime! 1st thing in the morning is easiest for most to fit in, and make habitual. An hour before bedtime is another great time.

Once a day is best when first starting (or twice if time); 3x a week is good for maintaining. Any is always better than none!

HOW?:

Relax: Progressively relax from toes to crown.

Focus: Look slightly above your horizontal sight plane. Focus on a point, or object.

Breath: Slowly breathe into your belly, and out your crown. In time with the breath, count backward from 100.

Meditate: In the meditation phase, continue your mantra, focus on "nothing", or work on issues or tasks, with self-affirmations and/or visualization.

Exit: Exit meditation by counting from 1 to 5, while silently reciting your positive affirmations.

yea - i tried to balance btn giving enough info for the info junkies, and KISS for the [less]-patient.... :-) keep the mtn small /\
