Has anyone tried meditation to help with stress and anxiety? I have been on medication for anxiety for about 8 years now and am in a good place at the moment but like everyone I have days where I feel I am struggling with simple things(kids, house, work) just wondered if meditation would help

Hi Shrinkingmummy,
I'm glad to hear that you're in a good place right now.
Personally, after struggling so much, I have really come to appreciate the time that I find myself in a good place - I truly cherish it.
Besides my wonderful life companion - my beautiful little dog - I would say that meditation and my sleep coach have been the other reasons for my amazing progress. I now meditate daily, and it has made a world of difference. Meditation helps me to stay in the present, especially when I feel an anxiety attack setting in. It's not a cure-all, but I highly recommend you try it. Please let me know what you think, if you do. Good luck. DogLover1
Meditating is healing. It can soothe worries. It can calm. I love it. I have been doing it almost daily. I find when I need it most is when it’s the hardest to get myself to do it but I do enough to see progress.
Best to you with meditating and I’m glad you are doing well!
Hi
I have tried meditation in the past and it helped me quite a bit. I used the headspace app which is free and they also have youtube videos. It takes some practice and lots of focus. I stopped because I got caught up in lots of other things but I am thinking about trying it again.
Meditation and Breathing properly have been the key to my success over anxiety
Of course it must start with Accepting that Anxiety is not harmful and comes from
a negative thought. I practice meditation several times a day as well as the breathing.
I am so calm and at ease that if a stressful situation should come along, within moments
I feel at ease again. xx
I just started doing mindful meditation. I don't do the kind that clears your head of any thought because I have a purpose in doing this. I'm looking for a way to calm my anxieties so that stressful things don't become so overwhelming. The guided meditation helps me a lot. I find them on youtube or I just take 10 minutes and pay attention to my breathing as I allow distressing thoughts to come and then I let them go. I try to do this proactively because if I wait until I'm in a panicked state, it's really hard to calm down. I hope this will help you.
Hi I would suggest checking out the bloom app. It is based on cognitive behavioral therapy and helps you learn to identify your worries before they turn to anxiety. I have been using it in conjunction with head space app.
Good luck and be proud of where you are and how far you have come!!
Yes it’s really helpful. Good way to start the day on a peaceful note. Building up the awareness and attention are what I think meditation helped me the most. Really enjoy the insight timer app 🙏
I have found that daily meditation calms your soul and makes a huge difference. You can download a free app on your phone that guides you through the process
I agree with everyone here. Meditation, prayer, CBT & deep breathing helped me also. Peace✌💗
Hi, that is what I intend to, to learn life skills and resilence. I have crashed again with another bad bout of anxiety and need to start doing things and tackling problems, rather than be completely caught off gaurd. I have joined Zen days meditation course and have done 4 days. She has taught me lots.
Of the many things I have tried for Stress, Depression, Colitis, Meditation is one of the few things I can say , seems to help. It doesn’t do it in a day or two. It will help weeks down the road when you can access the affects of quieting your mind from all the noise, that you have learned through meditation practice.
Congratulations on being in a good place.
I think of anxiety and depression as they do in AA, one day at a time, we only have this moment, never mind the past, not thinking about the future.
Meditation is a good tool to be aware of the present moment, and to lighten the weight of overweight everything. I recomend it to you.
Sometimes in my dark moments I pause to meditate to remind my body that it is safe and that this too will pass.
Hey,
the Isha Foundation is a non-profit organization and their meditations are tools for inner well being. I would recommend starting with Nadi Shuddi which is alternate nostril breathing and takes only about 3 minutes a day. When I was doing Nadi Shuddi I would then sit for like 3-5 minutes afterwards in silence and trying to focus on my breath while not trying to avoid my thoughts and feelings. I am currently doing the Shambavi Mahamudra which is a different meditation and I must say that I am receiving positive and unexpected results. Things just feel a little easier and smoother in my day to day life.
