article: meditation for anxiety study

I’m loving that there is more evidence being published for treatments that are not life long chemical treatment. This isn’t anti drug. But meditating is a great way to heal without side effects. Add that I did go to a workshop on meditation. It taught me a lot about how you can make it more effective… in case you feel like it doesn’t work. Anyway check it out.

💯 I’ve been learning a lot about history and I’m glad there is a questioning of conventional western medicine. Only took decades!

im a big believer of meditation. The problem i have is trying to use it only when anxiety is high.

that was me too except it was more when I was in a severe depression state. It definitely takes practice and remembering to practice! I’m out of town but when I get back I am going to start going to a place that does group meditation so I can build some structure.

I think there are many benefits to meditation both physical and mental. I think one of the best for me has been realizing that I am not my thoughts and to be able to observe them and detach from them and the other great thing is to be able to pause before reacting to something. The pause allows for a moment of awareness to be able to make choices much more consciously.

I have been trying alternative treatments as well, and two that seem to be helping are AVE (I bought a David Delight Plus mindalive.com/collections/a... and my husband and I both use it daily. While the results so far are temporary, having the option to use it instead of popping a benzo has been a godsend. I've also started acupuncture, and the first session seems to have started me out of my most recent SAD depression, with a few glorious days where I felt real change before the anxiety and depression came creeping back. I'm going back weekly for a few months to see if I can get more long-term results. I do know that more and more insurance carriers are offering and/or covering acupuncture, so I highly recommend looking in to both!

thank you for that link! That is really interesting. I did some Neuro feedback. It was with one of the original researchers. It was also temporary and expensive and in an office so clearly not a long term solution. Since you can do it daily I wonder if you actually affect the Neuro plasticity in a more permanent way(?) This whole study of energy and the brain is so interesting and I know this is only the early stages. I love this.

I do think that's the idea. I really need to find time to do it multiple times a day, but that hasn't happened yet. It does, however, help me to CALM down in the evening so I can sleep, which in and of itself is a godsend. It also increases blood flow to the brain, which is a good thing all around! Let me know if you decide to try it and how it works if you do. :-)

Like you I am also not antidrug but many drugs considered safe have proved to be deadly such as viox, phen phen and recently the anti acid drugs may cause cancer. So long term use of any drug can have serious side effects over years. No easy answers but breathing exercises and as you mention meditation can help.
