Today is the first day I’ve started meditation. Only about a 5 minute session tho. Anyone have experience with this and did it help you with your anxiety. I’m trying my best to cope in other ways besides medication.

Have you tried the app Headspace? I've been using it for about 5 days. I find that I use it before bedtime and it helps me fall right to sleep. It is a little different at first to concentrate. How are you getting you meditation info? Just curious on what method you are using.

I found a app called simple habit. Ima download headspace now and I’ll try that one tomorrow. I really haven’t done a lot of research or anything like that so I don’t really know what I’m doing. But the app helps cause it walks you threw it. I’m reading a book on someone who deals with anxiety and things they have tried and he talks about it. So I thought I would at least try it out and see if it helps me.

How strange, i watched a programme on BBC1 last night about a doctor trying to move away from prescribing drugs for everything. There was a group of six children with ADHD all on drugs, they tried getting them to meditate for just two minutes a day, i could not believe the way some of them changed. If that was anything to go by then it could help you as well. It seemed to calm the children down immediately. One child even going to school one day a week with no meds. He loved it, looked so calm and so happy.

I hope it helps you to overcome your anxiety. I understand how hard life is when you are so anxious you are paralysed by fear.

Wishing you well. Xxx

I hear meditation helps. One thing it can't hurt. I haven't managed the clearing my mind.

Will continue to try. I also am trying yoga.

Keep posting on your progress.

It has helped me... I’ve used guided meditation and a strategy called 5,4,3,2,1 (Identify 5 things you see, 4 things you hear, 3 things you feel, 2 things you smell, and 1 thing you taste)... this has helped me get outside of myself when I’m starting to feel anxiety. Before, I’d start to feel anxious and then it would spiral because I’d worry about what I was feeling (am I having a heart attack, am I going to have a panic attack...?) and it would spiral from there. Guided meditation has helped me to get outside of my self and not let things spiral. I’ve also tried the meditation app called “10% happier” and that has been a helpful tool, too. Some of the short meditations are helpful, too. For me, meditation is one of many strategies I use to manage and work through my anxiety. Essential oils, like lavender, also help. All definitely worth a try. :)

Yes I have a diffuser with lavender essential oil. It helps me relax when it’s time for bed.

Meditation helps me so much, especially at night going to sleep. I use YouTube meditations, there are such a lot to choose from, I use a different one every week virtually ...

I have an oil diffuser too, and love the oils smells they can be so soothing xx

Hi. I appreciate these posts so much. UCLA has a mindfulness department in the medical school. I was suffering with being severally overwhelmed (panic crisis) and started meditating 2x's per day. Within a few weeks I felt calm, spiritual and like everything, I was going to be OK. So grateful for mindfulness! Practicing has helped to rewire my brain or at keast become calm while going through crisis - Complex PTSD. Also, my therapist is great. She taught me inhale 4, hold 4, and exhale 4. I was waking up nightly, sometimes 2-3 times a night from panic attacks (vivid dreams). When this happens (maybe 3-4x's a month now), I immediately start this breathing and the panic attack is gone within a minute. Thank God for women whom take care of themselves and pass along what they have learned!

Namaste Friends!
