Hooked on benzos

So grandma gave me lexotan in the hospital because i didn't bring my Clonasepam and i was in extreme stress. Now mom overwhelms me, online therapy sucks, idk where i will live, nothing to make me happy. I got so much stress that i just pop Clonasepam and lexotan and go to sleep. Sis needs help writing dad's work and I'm just craving lexotan. I love benzos. Only thing making mom's madness, abuse, bizzaree behaviour and playing overwhelming music around, a little bearable so i don't end myself.

hi my friend. I’m sorry I missed something… why the hospital stay?

I have taken benzos in the past and getting off of them was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But it didn’t last very long so it’s doable , sorry I know it’s hard and hopefully it won’t be as hard for you, I used to ‘need’ benzos and for a while it helped me but it got out of control feeling for me after I would want them and didn’t have enough.

Take it one day one step at a time. Maybe set up a good tapering plan with your doctor.

I was on Xanax 24/7 for 5 years. I was in a bad marriage and I had a child with Autism and another who had ODD. When I split up with my husband, I was able to get off Xanax. I had a fairly easy time getting off of Xanax, but you have to do it right and be patient. I was taking 28 doses per week (4X/day) and each week I eliminated one until I was down to none. So it took 28 weeks. But you need to address why you are on them and make the necessary changes in your life. Maybe your therapist can help you with a plan. I see that you are 23. It sounds like you need to get out of your house. Do you work? If not, that might be your first step. Once you have a solid plan you will feel hopeful.

What exactly do you mean by "hooked on benzos"? I have taken a very large dose of lorazepam every day for 12 years and don't consider myself "hooked'. I consider them as something I need to keep going. Don't know what lexotan is. Are you getting the benzos from a regular medical source? If so, the doctor is not giving you more than they think you can handle. if you are getting them "off he street", that is a different story. Then you probably need to start seeing a doctor, but one who is sympathetic to benzo usage, to either start getting Benzos legitimately or wean down on them. Benzos have been so "demonized" here and elsewhere it is hard to have a reasonable discussion about them. But don't beat yourself up. You can't go cold turkey off them, but outside of that, they are not nearly as dangerous as some people make them out to be. But you do ned to be under a doctor's guidance while taking them, not prescribing for yourself.
