So tonight I had one of the worst panic attacks I've ever had. And my question is has anyone's arms went numb before? My arms went numb and my hand was twisted and wouldn't work. It was so scary. I thought I was having a heat attack.
Just wondering: So tonight I had one of... - Anxiety and Depre...
Just wondering
Very wierd, so its all in my head once again
My arm alone never went numb but once I got myself so worked up I got extremely dizzy and couldn’t feel my entire body for a solid minute it was extremely terrifying
When you have a panic attack your heart to beats faster. This triggers blood to be pumped through out your body at a faster rate. If you continue the attack for a prolonged amount of time, your body may not be able to send oxygenated blood sufficiently to your whole body. So it protects the important things in your body like your organs and brain. That is why other parts of your body can go numb. Your arms and legs are usually the first.
So in other words, this is a completely natural response for your body to do during a panic attack. Having said that make sure that if it is a regular occurrence or lasts an irregular amount of time you should consult your doctor.
