Have you seen a GP about your anxiety?

I go to a counseling now but all we talk about is breathing walking you know how to relax

I've been told that exercise helps and having a journal helps other than medication.

Healthy positive distractions allow you to stop focusing on those thoughts and give yourself a break to simply calm down. May help as well

Hi!!! Please let your Dr. know what you're going through, there is help out there! Love & Hugs!!! I'm here for you!!! XXX

Are you completely open with your counselor?

Are you completely honest to yourself about what triggers anxiety?

Does the breathing walking help you at all?

Have you told her that so she can suggest other methods?

So I googled it and breathing, excerise, healthy eating, sleep and obviously counselling always comes up.

I know how painful anxiety attacks are.

Along with the relaxation, it helps me to just let the anxiety be and not try to push it away. Observing it and accepting it has the effect of dissolving it faster. Also, I don't have panic attacks since significantly reducing caffeine.

Maybe this will help you too. Good luck.

My husband had bypass surgery, so I know a bit about it. His cardiologist said heart surgery is ofter followed by depression and advised my husband to take an SSRI. He said people who do take an SSRI actually do better physically. That is now standard advice, at least in the US. Usually the depression lifts as people heal and feel back to normal. As to your heart palpitations, it is important that you bring these to the attention of your cardiologist. Since you have had heart issues, you should see him regularly and make a special appt. for any new issues. Your palpitations are probably anxiety related, but it is important to make absolutely certain. You want to make sure you don't have atrial fibrillation or other issues.

My husband also had bypass and his Drs and nurses had told me repeatedly to watch for depression/anxiety in him, as it is extremely common following heart attacks,, and/or heart procedures.

Please keep asking for help!

SSRI s are antidepressants. They could benefit you greatly. Talk to your cardiologist first, though, to make sure there is no problem with your heart.

I don't know if they going to give me those because I had bypass surgery last September and I have a ICD defibrillator and to

Many, many heart patients are o SSRI’s for the reasons stated above by b1b1b1. The outcomes are improved for those heart patients. Stress and worry fo not promote healing or help the heart in general.

Sunshine sorry you’re having a hard time. I was just reading an issue of Mary Janes Farm magazine and came across an article on treating anxiety. #2 on the list is eat fermented foods or take probiotics. It says that the link between the body and mind starts in your gut. Maybe the surgery threw off your system. It also suggests taking Omega 3, avoiding gluten, decreasing sugar, GABA supplements, light therapy and walking. I hope this helps
