What’s a good weight loss pill or supplement?

LiveandLetLive42 profile image

I’m getting very insecure about gaining weight lately. It’s bring my ANXIETY to a max. I’m so embarrassed. A friend of mine literally told me “you’re putting on some pounds lately” and I was so appalled!! I suffer from anxiety as it is. Now I’m obsessing. I want to try a weight loss supplement.

Have you heard of Nutrition Facts? It's a website and youtube channel run by a medical doctor that is also a nutritionist. It's really hard to find scientifically accurate information on weight loss and nutrition and Dr. Greger is one of the most accurate sources out there. Unlike many he actually uses scientifically verified evidence from academic liturature to support all his ideas. He has a number of videos on youtube about various natural substances (like garlic or green tea) which have been proven by science to help in weight loss.

Here is a link to his website if your interested: nutritionfacts.org/

Wow thank you for your help and your time! Love the username 👍🏼

Your friend is not very kind nor sensitive. I'm sorry but there was absolutely no need to say something so hurtful. Are you on a medication that causes weight gain? If so maybe you could talk with your Dr. about your concerns. Either way, your physician is the place to start with any weight loss program.

I know right. It was really mean. I actually made an appointment with my Doctor. And I’ll talk to him about everything. I’m on Zoloft which can cause weight gain. Thanks for your advice!

Me too I have been gaining from meds and not willing to go off because I’m happy and I’m exercising and eating healthy and not much but still weight is on me. I’m looking for something to help too.

I’m on Zoloft and that is making the weight gain worse. I know what you mean. I want to try the keto diet.

I know it's easier said than done, but you know what I would say about anyone who has to be so petty and frankly rude to mention something as trite about someone's weight... **** ***.... so what if you put on a few honey....it's okay....they can come off when your into working that out and want to...... or not. I gave up years and years ago when I put on my old lady's purple hat, I don't care any more what someone thinks about what I look like...I'm happy with myself. But if my weight or health needs some work to make me feel physically better...then I address the issue. Your young enough that a little weight will come off okay kiddo...please just think in your head what I said above if that person even thinks of saying anything to you again...

Your a beautiful young women who has overcome so much in life... so what about a couple of temporary pounds...that's irrelevant to the big picture, what are that person's intentions of saying anything to you in the first place...I always consider the source... what's so great about that person, what makes them think they can say anything like that, what's their problem....and frankly I don't care, I don't have to....so don't you give them any more of your head space women...your loved and that's the most important thing.

You ALWAYS know what to say. Thank you! I appreciate all your kind words. I’m so lucky to have you as my friend. I guess I’m just a little off lately. I was hit hard with that comment he said. But you’re right. I can’t let that get to me. Xoxo!

Words hurt us, and not many are immune to them...it's what we do with it afterwards. We consider the source, and then decide what the intentions were. If a good friend said in a kind way that they noticed I was getting a bit heavy and was I okay, but said it knowing that heart conditions run with the women in my family, and weight and stress have a lot to do with it, then I would take it as they are just looking out for me. If it's someone I don't really know or do know that said it without good intentions and were just being an ass....then I can write them off.

I don’t think he was looking out for me. He said it so bluntly and didn’t follow up with anything. Nice right? Lol. I ordered these keto pills that amazon recommended. Honestly I don’t see them working but I’ll try. I know I need to exercise more but that is so hard to do right now. By that, I mean I’m lazy lol.

I struggle with the same issue. I’ve tried weight lost supplements in the past that I’ve been prescribed and in my opinion they do not work. I thought if I could just get on a medication everything would be fine but unfortunately I’ve had no luck. That person should be ashamed for saying that, people have absolutely no filter. I understand the depression and anxiety that comes along with weight gain. It’s a horrible cycle and I’m still not sure how to break out myself. Just keep going!

It’s definitely a struggle. And you’d think we are struggling enough right? I ordered these keto pills. I’m sure they won’t work lol. But working out is so damn hard these days you know? And people definitely have no filter! Thanks!

Question are you binge eating or just a few extra pounds? There is a big difference! I have had to tell people to get their eyes and mind off my body! Good luck!

I’m not so much binge eating. It’s a lack of exercise. I’ve gained about 20 pounds. I was 125. So I’m not huge, but I’m not skinny. I’m used to being skinny and depressed. Now I feel fat and depressed lol.

I heard Noom helps to normalize your eating. Helping with fear around it too! I understand how you feel! Good luck!!

Weight loss supplements are not a good idea and won’t solve the problems long term. It wasn’t the brightest thing for your friend to say. Anxiety can affect your metabolism too. Are you on medication for your anxiety? If you are feeling self conscious, I recommend listening to Jameela Jamil - I Weigh podcast.

I know they probably won’t work. I just hate working out lol. I used to love it. I’m on Zoloft and Abilify so both are weight gainers. But this weight gain is from the pandemic. I work from home so I’m not moving around a lot. It just sucks.

There not good for you full stop.i would recommend trying to eat little but often.replace one meal with a good diet protein sci max is a good one amazon.you will also get a good combination of amnio acids in it that are crucial to maintaining muscle mass.the more muscle you have the more fat your body will burn.as muscle needs more energy supply from what you eat.if you can try walking on an incline slight hill as walking on an incline burns more fat than on a level.although any kind of exercise will help with weight gain.walking swimming are 2 of the best ways.if you can exercise don't be alarmed if you put weight on at first.as this is normal as your body makes more muscle.then it will level out and from there watch the pounds roll of as long as you stick to the above even 15 mins of walking to start with and build up aim for minimum of x 3 a week if you can do more go for it.also drink plenty of water.water rids the body of water attention mad but true if you have any questions feel free to ask.good luck you can do it.its a state of mind.once in a routine you will feel better your mind and body will thank you for it.👍 ps also the obvious eat less calories than you burn in a day will help aim for 1000 to 1200 if you can.try do away with refined sugar replace with honey in your tea and coffee if you would normally take sugar.honey actually contains more sugar than refined sugar but it's natural sugar better for you.start the day with porridge if you can as this makes you feel fuller for longer keeps your blood sugar in check n is just all around good for you.

Wow thank YOU! That was a lot of information. That was really nice of you to take the time to write all of that. My sister is always asking me to go on walks. And I know I should. It's all about motivation lol. I work from home most days, so it's hard to get out too. But, that's no excuse. I have to get myself out there. I'll look into Amazon. That's a good idea. Thanks again so much <3
