Retail COVID worries

I work in a back of a thrift store warehouse in Florida. I was stress eating until my mom put a stop to that with scolding. Though I am work in Florida. Our governor Ron Santis or given the nickname Death Santis refuses to close the state and give miss information to the people. I am also a ptsd sole survivor victim ( I had five family members die in one year 2018) I have recently heard one of my old teachers friend die of COVID then another who died of COVID just blocks away from my house. I have anemia, all of my family has a low immune system, and my step father has diabetes. I have to do a routine just to come in the house ( go to washing room, take off all clothes, clean phone and glasses, run into the shower and santize all the doors). My work doesn’t keep 6ft from me but we have to keep a voucher of who has. I have taken the flu shot. An due to COVID our ceo is making us work harder but we have little demand it is frustrating. We don’t even have enough room for the clothes and because it is “ non profit” we can’t do buy one get one free. I been hearing people cursing including myself. An I can’t leave this job either cause of COVID the unemployment is so high. An teaching is out of the question due to my low immunity. Please can someone give me advice? I don’t want to be stuck.

I do take in what is happening in the USA although I live in the UK

You can purchase a plastic face covering that protects your face mouth and eyes, a mask can be placed over your mouth as well. The face covering is placed on you head and the plastic is made to drop down from your brow to past your chin. If the need arises you can also get gloves that keeps you hands protected

I would imagine you can get this protection on Amazon or a chemist. Check it out. You can also clean or disinfect the screen

In the UK some people are not keeping the 2m distance, just because they do it to you does not mean you need to accept it especially if they are not wearing a mask. I tell them to move

I wish people would be more considerate of other people's medical vulnerablities in these times. I know it probably feels like the word is telling you that you dont matter right now, so I want to say that your life is important!

I'm no doctor or expert but my education is in the biomedical area and I can say that borderrieve's advice is quite good. The main way corona virus can get into your body is through mucosal membranes (like your nose and mouth) or thin skin layers that have blood vessels close to the surface.

When it comes to your safety there is no such thing as overkill. You should make sure that your mask is made of a denser material (some are very thin when stretched out), if you dont have one you could wear one mask over another. If you wear a plastic face sheild over the mask(s) that's even better!

Also gloves are great, but be sure not too touch them or touch youself with these after you put them on (except when removing). Gloves break very easily though so don't reuse the same pair too often.

Lastly, make sure you clean everything that you use to stay safe. Alcohol is good for cleaning non-cloth things and gloves (but it can also eat away at some gloves depending on what they are made of so its better not to reuse gloves). For cleaning cloth things outside of the obvious you should always use heat when cleaning them. Also drying them out with heat should work too (corona virus needs moisture to live).

Stay safe!

Elderberry and zinc is a vitamin my doctor recommended me to take to build and strengthen my immune system.

Yes! My doctor and friends who are nurses told me that the worst patients are the ones that have a zinc deficiency. Also, my office had an outbreak and what the people who did not get infected had in common was that they took a multivitamin. Not sure if that means anything, but can’t hurt. Sending you prayers.

Yes you are right? I am a ER Nurse and the first thing that we do is administer Zinc and vitamin D3 to our Covid patients. These vitamins seem to fight the virus because it improves your immune system. Does not cure it but puts up a hell of a fight!

First are you seeing a medical professional for the anxiety that you are having? Second if you are in a position at work that has you working with the public, if you can leave that position and find a work from home position that could be better for you. Wearing a mask indoors and having the plexiglass as a barrier can help when you are working retail, however, since you seem to be high risk, I would just take a step back to find a new position at a different company like customer service from home.

No I used to but it gets expensive now. I tried to find a home position but nothing showing up that I am qualified for.
