I use to worry about my heart constantly. Whether I was sitting or standing, I would
be taking my pulse. After a while it became a habit hard to break. But I didn't stop, I
purchased at that time one of the best cardiac watches. A Casio that took b/p, h/r
and even ran a short cardiac strip. My doctors were amazed in what it could do.
Unfortunately, they didn't think that I should be wearing it considering my focus on
my heart.
Eventually, the watch broke and I didn't get it fixed. I hid my b/p monitor from my sight and hardest was retraining myself not to take my pulse on my neck or wrist. It didn't take as
long as I thought it would before I no longer focused on my heart. Instead, my doctor had
me join an Aquatics class. First was 2 days a week, then 4 then 6. The more I worked out
the better I felt mentally and physically. The focus was no longer on my heart.
At 22 Chaseinc, you should be living the good life. That fear of having a heart attack needs
to be addressed by a therapist who can help you get back on the right path. I wish you well.
One last thing....do you know what prompted this focus on the heart to start?? That might be what the therapist will concentrate on. Good Luck xx
Had a pda when i was 4 months old but never had anxiety about it until i turned 18 and i stopped playing basketball and football because of me getting scared that ill have a heart attack or lung disease or stroke from playing sports
Thank you Chaseinc for sharing that important info with us That makes sense why you
would put a focus on your heart. Although it doesn't have to be true if you've gotten a clearance from your doctor that it was okay to play sports Now it needs to be addressed psychologically so that you can live a normal life.
My nephew was born with a pda and is now a Firefighter/Paramedic. Having had this
does not have to impact your life.
Please readdress these concerns with your doctor. I care xx
Hey Chase, we have the same condition and it sucks, i used to be the department’s football captain but quit sports because of my anxiety...you can check my bio
