I think it depends on the person. I am on it currently. It worked really well initially, but then I fell back into a struggle. When they upped my dosage I was definitely feeling better but couldn't sleep. Now i'm getting ready to go with an in between dosage to see how that works. Good luck to you!
I'm on it right now, 150 mg but going up to 200 mg in a week. I've seen the most improvement with my depression. I don't feel all the doom and gloom anymore and, even though I still feel hopeless about my life, the hopelessness doesn't weigh as heavy on me.
I've also seen an improvement with my social anxiety. I've been able to interact easier with people in this community and post replies without overthinking every little thing I write.
I have OCD and I haven't seen much improvement there, but my prescriber said that she has seen people go up to 300 mg.
It really just depends on the type of anxiety you have, your body's chemical make-up, and what side effects occur. I've tried Lexapro and Prozac, and both of those didn't have much of an effect on my anxiety or depression, plus I was having negative side effects. Sertraline hasn't given me any real side effects (maybe an increase in acne) and it's helped at least my depression so I'd say it's good for my situation. Medications are basically trial and error, but at least there are plenty to choose from.
