Does anyone know the timeframe when the increased anxiety from starting antidepressant will subside? Had major depressive episode and started SSRI about 19 days ago but dr. Increased dose by double 10 days ago.

hi! Hang in there. It will get better. Please try reading “Hope and Help for Your Nerves” by Dr Claire Weekes in the meantime. This book gives you excellent tools to help you while time passes and you truly do feel better.

Hi Mags10- the usual time it takes for a medication to reach full efficacy is

between 4-6 weeks. However, when a dosage has been increased (in your case

doubled) it could take a little longer. Be patient, stay positive and you will see and feel

the results. Good Luck dear :) xx

it takes several weeks for the anxiety to slow down. Every dose increase made mine worse for a couple weeks as the medication levels off. I hated waiting day to day, but it does start to work.

My dr wants to add buspar but not sure about that

in my experience Buspar has been pretty mild in the sense of side effects (never noticed any). It's the Mirtazapine I cannot take.

If your anxiety is worse, let your doctor know ASAP. You may be on the wrong med for your system. Most antidepressants and antianxiety meds can make symptoms worse, and in my opinion and personal experience that is a clear sign that it is not the right med for you. There are SO MANY other options you can try! Good luck and hang in there. You are not alone.
