Any tips on how to beat feeling self conscious around people? I have a friend who I barely ever see coming over soon and I tend to feel all awkward. Agh Thank you!

If he is a friend and you havent seen him sor sometime why dont you focus on asking or finding out more about whats been happening in his world,?I have had social anxiety most of my life and prefer my own company-than get stressed out by others who are insignificant at the end of the day.

I have suffered with this all my life and have missed alot of opportunities due to social anxiety, it is a miserable way to be..Try to concentrate on something they like doing to talk about and before you know it, the time has passed for your social encounter

Hello Grace-Ava Yes its horribleI have spent most of my life in lockdown and if it wasnt for my understanding of mental health issues and learning about others via auto biographies,I would feel very isolated indeed.....how do you cope .,

I was in this situation recently when my niece came over. I had not seen anyone at all for about 6 weeks and was terrified. I’m always scared that I won’t know what to say or won’t have anything to contribute because I am home by myself most of the time due to my anxiety. The first 20 mins or so were a bit awkward but as the conversation went on I started to relax. We mainly talked about her. Like Grace-Ava and goldieoldie say try to ask questions about your friends life and interests it makes it a lot easier for sure. Before u know it you’ll have got through it and u never know u might actually end up enjoying the time spent together! I know I did. Wishing u the best. Let us know how u got on

Thanks everyone for your comments. So the second I saw him it was instant aaaaaahhhhhh so happy to see him kind of feeling that there was no awkwardness at all like I had anticipated. I find that things typically work out better than how I think them up in my mind.

Oh...I did get your reply. I'm so glad things worked out!!!!!

Remember the next time you're experiencing that self-conscious, awkward feeling that it could be the 'unsure of yourself ' talking to to you...not literally but nevertheless try not to let what you're thinking over shadow what you know..."things typically work out better than how I think them up in my mind".

How's today going for you?

Did you get the other message I wrote...I think I clicked on...can't remember.

Take care of yourself!!!
