Does anyone take lexapro for anxiety? If so what dose? I take 20mg and it’s not working very well so my doctor wants to up my dosage to 30mg but everything online says 20 is the highest. Does anyone take more than 20mg?
Lexapro: Does anyone take lexapro for... - Anxiety and Depre...
Lexapro
I used to take 40 mg when I was a teenager and weighed about 85 pounds (anorexia). I'm not a doctor by any means, but I still was able to function, but that is a very high dose. The biggest side effect I had was I didn't feel my emotions that much, I just felt kind of neutral about most things but once I got off it I realized how much it had killed my emotions. I also don't think it was the right med for me because it never helped with my anxiety, OCD, depression, or eating disorder.
I tried Prozac a few months ago but it was doing the same thing as the Lexapro, killing my emotions.
Now I'm on Zoloft, 100 mg but I'll probably be going up at my next appointment, and seems to be working on my depression some and hasn't shown any side effects yet.
I don't know if any of this helped. Send me a message if you have any questions.
I was taking 20mg of Lexapro but haven't had very much success with any of the SSRI's. Prozac seems to work a little bit better. I take 40 to 60 mg each day.
I understand that adding a med like Abilify helps but the cost!!!!!!!!
Best of luck. Try to hang in there...wherever 'there'may be.
10mg each day cause my parents wants me to take medicine , but i don't think any pills will help my anxiety, I have taken different meds for 10 years, and things got better only several days in the past
I take 20mg for depression. I also thought this was the highest dose, but one doctor told me I could take as much as 40mg.
I take 20mg for depression and take 25 mg of hydroxyzine for anxiety when I need it. It seems a good combination for me. Better than any in the past.
I'm on 20 mg and now at about week 7 at that dose. My anxiety is much less than it was, some remaining but with the situation at present I think that is to be expected. Have to push myself to do some things and mornings worse. Sleep is much better now, had bad insomnia to start with and so was always tired. Good luck.
Took 15mg of Lexparo for 45 days, it did squat for me. If anything, it heightened my anxiety, forcing me to take more Alprazolam than I would normally use. I have always been a clean liver, never smoked, don't drink alcohol, have never had a cup of coffee, always kept myself in good shape, never even smoked weed, and always wary of medications. Started having anxiety and panic attacks in June, which have literally crippled me, thus the Lexapro.
Switched 12 days ago to 25mg of the brand Zoloft, not the generic Sertraline, as most generic drugs are useless. Began to feel positive effects in just 4 days, had a little backslide and have now increased to 50mg . Have not had any panic attacks, and anxiety is now more manageable. Slowly decreasing the use of Alprazolam to 1 to 1.5mg daily and slowly getting my life back.
Prior to the Zoloft, I felt my days were numbered and that I was going to die, the panic attacks were so severe, often resulting in trips to the ER, only to be told all is well physiologically and sent home with instructions to take the Alprazolam as needed to calm me down.
The diagnosis is a chemical imbalance in he brain with the serotonin, but whatever the cause, anxiety and panic attacks are insidious and heinous.
Stay strong, keep your faith and hang in....
I have been taken 20 mg Lexapro (generic) for 2 years now. It has definitely helped with anxiety and depression. Although It did take a very long time for results. It is a very gradual process. Therapy, exercise and keeping busy is key to recovery. Hang in there and God Bless.
