18months ago I suffered from terrible physical anxiety symptoms that interfered with me living my life I reluctantly went on citalopram 10mg .initially they made my symptoms worse before slowly my symptoms disappeared along with cbt. I took them for 9 months and weaned off in March without any problems. I’ve had a good 6 months however my physical symptoms have started to creep back the past month and I don’t won’t to go back to where I was before. What are plps thoughts? Is this just a phase bought on by recent stresses and will pass or do I need meds long term to stop these horrible physical symptoms getting worse?
Thankyou

Sorry you are feeling this way. From experience I would nip it in the bud now and go back on citalopram, I was on it for years and then because I wasn’t t sleeping change medication biggest mistake of my life. The anxiety just got worse, went back on citalopram which hasn’t worked this time and I’m in a dreadful state as the new meds don’t seem to be helping at all.
Thankyou for your reply I was really hoping I’d conquered anxiety it’s so upsetting to feel like this . Do you think it would work 2nd time around? I took it in morning so didn’t have a problem with sleeping.
I hope you can sorted too guess it’s trial and error see which meds suit you best . I remember my anxiety got a lot worse at first and took good 6-8 weeks to feel calmer .
