Feeling stuck

Lately I've been feeling stuck. I just sleep and go to work. I barely love doing anything I used to do anymore. I want to learn how to cope with things, and figure out things to distract me. I lost all my friends, all I have is my boyfriend. My boyfriend and I have opposite schedules and only see each other right before bed or on the weekends.

Hi staciarose12, Welcome to this safe support site. Maybe we can help you not feel so stuck by talking with others feeling the same way.

What can help is not focusing so much on what you don't have but rather what you do.

You have a job, you're able to sleep and you have a boyfriend. You two may be on opposite schedules, but how nice it must be to know he's there for you before bed and/or the weekends. You are blessed. :) xx

I have been diagnosed, I recently moved so I don’t have a therapist anymore. All the meds they’ve had me take either make it worse or I have a terrible side effect from them. Thank you so much

Meds R a tricky thing. It's no just the med but the dosage and how it combines with the others. I would suggest that U do find a therapist. A therapist will keep U on the right track and maybe and yes this is thru trial and error can find 1 or 2 meds that agree with your body. I once stupidly, went off all of my meds. I was so sick. Needed to take about three weeks off work using TTD. Fortunately my shrink, was very savvy when it came to meds. But even tho, I was able to return to work, my meds still needed to be tweaked Good luck with this. Here for U

Hugs Shnookie

I also have to say you’re very lucky that you can sleep. Exercise may help and just going for s as bike ride helps me.

Boyfriend and sleep you will be fine.

Just bc I can sleep for 2-3 hours and I have a boyfriend doesn’t mean I’m automatically fine. That’s not fair.

Sorry you're feeling stuck. I get stuck a lot too because I lose interest in things like you do. Yes it could be from depression/mental health, but I've also come to realize that we are always changing and we just naturally start to lose interest in somethings. For example, I used to love to bake but nowadays it just seems like a hassle. Part of the reason is my OCD thinking about how messy baking is but part of me also just doesn't find it as rewarding as I used to.

I guess I'm suggesting that you look at the things you once loved and see if you can find the reason why you don't want to do them anymore. Then look to see if there are new things that interest you. The internet is full of creative ideas but a few that come to mind are baking/cooking (obviously 😊), gardening, painting, poetry, journaling, learning a new language, taking a non-credit course at a college, music, or just simple things like reading a book or watching a good TV show/movie.

Start small and don't beat yourself up if you don't stick with something, just try something else. Hopefully you'll come to find something you're truly passionate about and that will actually help you with your mental health. It took me until I was 27 to realize that my passion is Japanese culture and media (anime). It takes a lot for me to get started on something but I was able to start learning Japanese because my passion overcame my depression and now it helps boost my self esteem because I feel like I'm accomplishing something.

Good luck!
