Mental illness in couple relationships

I suffer from depression, anxiety and OCD. My past relationship ended because my partner could not understand that people cannot always control their depression, and that depression is hard 😢

And for 2 months I thought how difficult it is to find a person who will accept me with all my problems and will not be so dismissive of my mental health.

After 2 months, I met a new guy, we just started dating. And recently it turned out that he also suffers from depression and anxiety, and takes medications.

We talked about that. And all I understand now is how good it is when you can share your feelings with someone who understands you perfectly. But I am afraid that there may be problems in such relationships šŸ¤”

I am afraid that it can be difficult when you and your partner are both depressed. Does the state of one partner affect another? Or how to help another when you yourself cannot get out of this? Or can it generally affect your relationship?

I would be grateful if you share your experience, who faced this situation. I'm a little confused 😬

I don’t know much about that. I’m married and my husband doesn’t talk about his depression (which manifests in ugly ways)

I have depression bouts that are very very bad plus anxiety attacks. We’ve been married 9 years. It’s hard. Mine manifests ias weeping out of control. He doesn’t understand. I can’t understand him. We don’t discuss reasons behind any of it. It’s very very hard and I regret being ā€œstuckā€

Depression is tough, my child's depression affects our whole household. Could you and your partner try getting help together for depression, and that way you can help one another. It will take some work, but you can get through this.
