Introvert's Who Are Highly Sensitive People πŸ‘€

β€’17 Replies

Introvert's personality needs calm, minimally stimulating environments. We regain energy by spending time alone. It doesn't mean we are angry or depressed.

1. Highly Sensitive People who Introvert's are described as noticing every little detail & things that others miss., A lot. When coming to notice when someone's voice changes from up to down, not making eye contact when suspecting someone is being dishonest and so many other little things we notice is part of the Highly Sensitive Person. We overanalyze every situation

2. You can be a HSP and be an Extrovert however, research tell us 70 *% of Highly Sensitive People are INTROVERTS.***

***Since coming to to Healthunlocked 2 months ago I realized how many Introvert's their are, like myself, and decided to research further. I was surprised at some of the information I found out that happen to me daily, that's part of being a Highly Sensitive Person, which I just discovered I am. (Not an introvert but an HSP/Introvert***

3. Uncontrollable Volume Control..loud voices, music, movies, theatre, your neighbor's teens music, concerts, mostly things you can't control, are a complete assault on your hearing and your mind.

4. We are NOT Agoraphobic. We are NOT afraid of other social spaces. What we need is time to regroup, have peace, be in one with ourselves and recoup from being out in a large group setting, ie., wedding, funeral, meeting, conference , Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc..even time with our family...it doesn't matter.. It's exhausting to us to be out in crowded situations. We suffer from frequent exhaustion.

5. Having strange unexplainable reactions to violence, cruelty and the inspiring & beautiful: watching scary movies, podcasts, news, commercials on cruelty to animals, reading scary books, stories, newspaper stories are absolutely abhored by the Introvert who's an HSP., Seeing inspirational movies that leave us in tears, Hallmark Commercials, Art, Music, books.,

All these above will leave us thinking about either // for for days. Another assault on our system. It can effect our sleep as well this becoming irritable

6. We don't want to be alone all the time. We do like being with people we know we'll, we just need periodic quietness to decompress and regain energy from over stimulating/socializing ourselves.

7. Time constraints/ running late completely upset us, putting us over the top

8. We aren't party poopers..we may likely be quiet at large social gatherings however we like sitting in the back, observing, listening, taking in sights & sounds..we are curious and like to learn about our world. We may engage in small talk as long conversations bore us and tire us

9. We don't want to disappoint others when asked to go out however the Introvert in us wants to stay home

10 We are not Gloomy Gus's who dislike other people

11 We are not being rude

PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE'😊

πŸ‘€I'll be adding more as I continue my research as some of you have asked me to as I continue to learn more about the Introvert personality πŸ‘€

I'm certainly an introvert (and a very shy one at that) and I hate loud noises but this girl loves horror in every form it can be found: books, movies, theater, television, I can't get enough of it. I've found that people who love horror are some of the gentlest most romantic folk out there. They have to be in order to love monsters that much.

Maybe 10/15 years ago I watched a lot of horror movies but now a days it gets harder for me to watch horror movies without getting nightmares.

I’m also an introvert and was reading up on this as well last week. Trying to see if I was an empath, highly sensitive person, or just an introvert. Learned a lot as before looking it up I didn’t know they were all kinda lumped in there together. I feel like I have a little of all of it really. Thanks for posting, sharing and continuing to share!

You're welcome 😊

I'm highly Sensitive. It's very interesting research. I always wondered why I was the way I was. I'm happy being an introvert.

Thank you for your research, yes I am an introvert and quite happy to be, don't know myself any other way. I hate loud noises and horror movies, not fond of romance either. I have always found ways to keep myself busy, my Mother told me as a child (lst born) she did not have to entertain me, I did it myself, I am sensitive and hate violence of any kind to animals, children or adults. I have no problem being by myself, during lock down I often to not have any TV or music on in the house, it is easier to hear God that way. I love nature and get a lot of sustenance from it. In a group I can be quite engaging and tell jokes for laughs, sometimes the last one to leave!!!. Yes please keep writing more........

I'm neither one nor the other: I'm a combination of both. There's times when I prefer to be alone and there are times when I'm in the mood for a party. I do love rainy days, but a sunny day with a cool breeze is always pleasant. I'm not always in the mood for a scary movie; however, Jaws is one of my favorites (watched it last night for it's 45th anniversary).

Honestly, it depends on my mood where I fall on the spectrum.

β€’ in reply toPugglesworth

Thank you for sharing. Sounds like you're in the middle of the spectrum 😊. That's a cool place to be😎

I can be extroverted, but am really an introvert at heart. I'm super-sensitive to everything that happens to me and it is exhausting!!

Thanks for posting!πŸ™‚

This is fascinating to me because I JUST saw the term "highly sensitive people" for the first time in my life last week. I sat and accidentally read things about HSP research for almost an hour and just about everything I came across made me literally sob from feeling less alone. PackerGirl and Hidden I just wonder if all three of us are HSPs / introverts like Gretel, all of the stuff I read reminded me so much of things that we've discussed here... idk, I don't really have anything to contribute at this point but I guess I'm just interested in you guys' thoughts and experiences <3
