I live away from my family. I couldn’t make it back home because of the lockdown. I live alone so I haven’t interacted with another human being in a very very long time. I’m very very very homesick. Day time is fine because I’m working from home and I’m distracted throughout the day. The nights are hard. I’m having trouble sleeping. And I have never had trouble sleeping all my life. All these dark thoughts cloud my head and with time, the thoughts are just getting darker and darker. I’m not going to be going home anytime soon so I was wondering if any of you guys have suggestions to combat this problem. So far I have tried home workouts, going off social media, cutting coffee after 3pm. Nothing’s really helped.

Sleeping issues
I have recently started meditating 20 minutes before bed. You don't have to be good at it. If you start thinking, just notice the thoughts and carry on. Soon with practice you'll be more aware of the sounds (or lack thereof) around you. It helps to clear my head and prevents getting involved with negative thoughts.
Thank you for this.
I have always avoided meditation coz I thought it would just enhance my bad thoughts.
But I’m doing to download one of those apps for meditation and give this a try!
Good for you.
I've found that it's something that gets easier with practice.
Its a relief not to have to get involved with negative thoughts - and to believe that they're only thoughts - not to give them importance.
I use the headspace app and it’s wonderful!
Yes I downloaded it too. I’m going to give it a try tonight. Fingers crossed!
Awesome! let me know how it goes
I tried it 2 nights in a row and it worked like magic! Can’t thank you all enough ☺️
