I’m really having a hard time sleeping tonight so many thoughts racing been trying to get this anxiety and depression under control but it’s so hard! I try to stay positive and change my thoughts but it doesn’t last very long before I start to worry again

Hard time sleeping..
Same. I'm worried about everything and cant stop crying tonight. Not sure I will sleep at all. Exhausted though
Rotor15 and Eowyn7,
I’m sorry you’re not able to sleep. I’ve been that way for years. I’m awake more during the night than the day and I only sleep 4 hours at a time.
Have you tried Melatonin? That helps me go to sleep but sometimes when I close my eyes I feel very jumpy so I take an anxiety pill.
My psychiatrist suggested I take my anxiety before going to sleep and turn off all electronics. I always have to have the tv on in the background and I do wear a sleep mask.
Maybe you can try reading, melatonin and turning off all electronics at least an hour before you go to sleep.
Good luck!

I have tried melatonin and sometimes I have some nature music on very low in the background. Some nights like last night it can be so hard to just turn off your brain from worrying and be anxious. Thank you dee_bells
Melatonin doesn’t work for me so my doctor put me on Trazadone which is slightly stronger and she just switched me to Hydroxyzine and I love it. My anxiety has completely gone away and so have my anxiety dreams. Also try a weighted blanket! It works with your nervous system to make you feel grounded while you sleep!
So you’re not taking Trazadone? My dr explained that it helps with depression and sleep. But I take it sometimes and I feel weird and out-of-body. Some people may like that but I don’t.
Racing thoughts are my least favorite. Have you tried getting out of bed and reading or journaling or coloring when you can’t sleep? Also, I use practice having a caertain time during the day (lay afternoon typically) where I’d allow myself to worry but process those worries, which seemed to help them decrease racing thoughts at night. Do you ever practice mindfulness? Prayers last night was a better nights sleep.
Rotor, I use an essential oil called Spikenard. I get the organic one and just sleep with the bottle in my hand, it just takes a drop or two...research it first, but I was taking way too much melatonin to sleep and that wasn't good so I searched for other things. Valerian root tea is good and sometimes Skullcap tea (bulk tea at health food stores and a french press makes it easy)...exercising hard for at least 20 minutes a day also helped me although of course I had to force myself to do it. Sleep deprivation is no fun...
I also used a fan for white noise, now I use a fan and ear plugs...I have to laugh at myself, but whatever we have to do : )
