A little about me.

So. A little background. In March 2018 I found out I was pregnant, my husband and I were thrilled. After our first prenatal visit I was hospitalized for 3 days for super high blood sugar. I’m now a type 2 diabetic. About 2 weeks later I had my follow up ultrasound only to discover we had lost the pregnancy. I was doing well until after May 4th 2018 when intense panic and anxiety took over my life. I was convinced I was dying, I couldn’t tell my brain otherwise and I couldn’t tell my brain to tell my body. (My physical symptoms were horrific) I was put on Prozac and vistaril and things slowly got back to normal. A year later, with my doctors approval I weened off Prozac. Fast forward global pandemic and the lack of control and health anxiety sent me spiraling. I went back on 20mg of Prozac and vistaril. Except this time the vistaril was useless and the breakthrough anxiety of the Prozac was almost more intense than the panic I had been feeling. So after speaking with my doctor we decided to up my Prozac to 40mg and he added Trazodone to help with the breakthrough anxiety and sleep. I guess a low does for day time sedation and no more than 50mg for sleep. I’m okay. For now. I’m worried about the increase Prozac throwing me back into an unmanageable panicked state. It doesn’t help that side effects can be symptoms of illness, but like I said I’m hanging in there.

Thank you for sharing. Im sorry you went through that. I feel bad.

The good news is there is more you can do to help yourself. Sometimes medicine is not enough and sometimes medicine is not the answer. Have you had talk therapy?

I do have a very good psychologist who works in tandem with my PCP who I had my initial follow up with after I ended up in the psych emergency room in 2018. Therapy is great and with medication I’ve been able to really get back to where I was before the miscarriage.

Good that is great to hear. I have found that meditation, walking, and yoga have helped me a lot

Yoga and deep breathing exercises are how I start my day. Until covid-19 I was a daily gym goer (tanning for psoriasis which I believed also helped my mood) My husband and I have been hiking and biking a lot since and if I’m feeling up to it, it really helps. I’m looking forward to warmer days, we’re buying a swimming pool because the sun and water are my favorite in the summer time. And fortunately, the weather is finally starting to warmup around here! I can deal with my allergies if I can sit in the sun. Thank you for your kind words, by the way, I really appreciate it. 💕
