Given blood pressure drugs and a little valium to help, but also started on Citalopram 10mg to manage the stress, been on for 3 days but not feeling good with this medication. Thinking of coming off and use up the valium as blood pressure should be back under control.

Any comments on the effectiveness of citalopram.

Every person is different. What I would tell any friend that gets prescribed a psychotropic medication is to research said medication thoroughly. In addition, I would tell them to investigate every avenue of handling stress without psych medication. While it may be true some find these meds helpful, meds can also do great harm.

Great harm in my experience with Venlafaxine it's a deamon.

I am not great on blood pressure meds of the past, they made me mad and moody, I am now on ramapril 2.5mg, I haven't got a BP machine to test but my heart rate is back in the 90's from near 120 resting.

As to vallium aka diazapam, it can be addictive but I have not found that for me, however the SSRI citalopram seems to be the new Prozac. I take Venlafaxine for my depression and anxiety and my body is physically addicted to it so I have had many a antidepressant including Citalopram I found it did not help, but once it's taken hold of your seratonin synapse coming off is hard. If your not feeling good on it tell the Doc and see what's next? I am the world's worst self medicator so I am not sure I manage properly but it's always best to tell the Doc when you feel mal on a med, take care and stay safe.

I too am starting celexa recently and have been on it in the past. it definitely sucks for the first week or two and you have to push through those side effects to get to the benefits. i’m currently on day 2 of restarting it’s a struggle.. i’m really sensitive to medication and diabetic but i know i need the help for my recent anxiety.
