I have learned and would like to share some coping skills again..I’ve learned and hope it helps anyone out there.

#1 I started spelling out words when I get anxious including ruminating thoughts off my mind. As I sit there or walk around house or do something I spell everything till I forgot what I was previously thinking. Example: I’m hungry. I say

I A-M H-U-N-G-R-Y or B-O-O-K, etc .. I just spell everything in my sight

#2 This is how I do it the 5-4-3-2-1 technique. I use my fingers to count.

Name out loud (5) things you see

Touch (4) things

Listen & what (3) things do you hear?

What (2) things do you smell? You can pickup something and what does it smell like?

What (1) thing do you taste -coffee, gum,etc?

Hope this helps anyone with anxiety it does for me. If I could I would suggest do it even when your not anxious it helps keep it down for me

Might I recommend this as well ... Try using essential oils. (Heard from a podcast too) try using some type of orange smelling one and lemon grass and rubbing it on both your hands (palms) together and inhaling will relax you. Lean it to it put up to your face and just inhale and breathe for a few minutes. Of course wash hands off when done. And help with anxiety and depression. I use these also but never tried before Lemon grass and any orange smelling one. I use different types.

Even little tips can help someone in a huge way...thank you again.

You dont have to put it on your hands you can just open bottle and and inhale. Works better other way
