Unemployed and very depressed

I was just let go on Friday, I've submitted at least 10 applications. No one is calling me. Now being I see isolated is making it worse. Single parent, no family or friends. I feel so worthless right now. Started drinking to get through this. Some days I dont ever want to wake up. I can't even distract myself from these thoughts, cant even go to the gym. In just tired of crying, being sad and angry hate my life so much right now. 😪

What type of work are you looking for?

I worked for a print company for 3 yrs, was in Project Management/Sales. Looking for a Customer Service or Sales job.

You will find something. However, for sales you need to 'feel' it. So have a good cry but then brush yourself down, put your glad rags on and smile.

Think and act as though you are working in your dream job. It subtly changes your body language, which is key to a good interview.

Don't despair, you will find a job in no time.

Have you tried to collect unemployment for at least the time being? I know it may be difficult with a lot of people filing for it but it may be worth a shot to go for that while also looking for a job. Also my sister works in HR and says that some companies wait to see if people call them to show they are truly interested in the position. So you might want to try to call or email some of the places and just say “hey I sent my application to you guys on __ and was wondering when you would be reviewing it. I’m eager to hear your response” something like that. Hope that helps and I hope you hear for some of them soon

It is so difficult right now with this virus. My son also has been looking for a job but wasn't working before this virus hit so can't file for unemployment. Do file for unemployment and remember you should be getting that money from the stimulus plan. The drinking will only make things worse but do some nice things for yourself, maybe listen to music or watch a funny movie. Maybe catch up on projects you didn't have time for when you were working. Things will get better.

Hi, my son has also been looking for work and cant apply for unemployment either, hes 23. I applied for unemployment and will get that and the check they are sending so I hope it holds me over. I'm supposed to get child support for my 15yr old daughter, been over 3 years, her dad doesnt pay. I'm trying to get Des to enforce. I've just been applying for jobs everyday, and hoping. Thanks for the response and take care of yourself too. Hope this virus is over soon.
