I’ve been on benzos for anxiety for about 5 months now, the most taken is 1mg a day but I feel like every since I started the medicine, I’ve been feeling dizzy, I get dizzy spells bad sometimes but mostly just feeling off all the time. Does anyone experience this? Is it because the medicine? My blood work is normal always so I’m not sure if it can be Long term effect if the medicine or not? Just looking for opinions. Thanks!

That's a big YES in that benzos can and do cause dizziness at times.

Once I was off my benzos, I realized as much as it helped with anxiety,

it was a very controlling drug for me in not making me feel fully in control.

Do not stop your medication. Always consult with your doctor. :) xx

Thank you! Yeah I didn’t have problems with dizziness until I started taking benzos on an everyday basis. I never wanted too but it got bad but now I feel like I would do better off of them or maybe try something else. Thank you!

How long were you on benzos? And was it hard to get off of them?

Hi Sue, unfortunately I was left on them for 30 years.

It was quite a feat to get off them but I was determined to

not take something that no longer worked.

With each cut in dosage, I kept reminding myself that I was

going in the right direction.

Because of the length of time I was on the med, it took me

2 years to get off it and another year of my brain healing as

it relearned how to make the chemicals on it's own.

The results were amazing. To this day, I am happy that I did it.

By the way the program schedule that my psychiatrist used was

Dr. Heather Ashton's Method of Weaning off Benzos. A Safe Approach. :) xx

Thank you! Great information! I've only been on them for about 4 weeks! They really help with the anxiety, but they scare the SH#T out of me because they are so highly addictive!

I want my anxiety to be controlled but o don’t want to feel crappy and dizzy everyday to the point I don’t feel comfortable going out in public or driving etc.

It's kind of ironic, I'm not currently on any meds but dizziness is my #1 physical symptom of anxiety. It's not so much like the dizziness from going on a spinning ride or drinking too much tequila; I can get up and walk from one place to another just fine. But I feel light-headed and woozy when I'm anxious. In those rare moments that I'm not anxious, the dizzy feeling goes away.

Yeah I feel you. I’ve only had a couple spinning sensations but normally it’s jut the same you are feeling always lightheaded and off, you would think the word for it is dizzy so idk lol
