I dont know whether I explained it well, and I know my gp is snowed under but the response of what do you need me to do about it? I dont think was helpful, normally shes been understanding to people especially my mum when Alive so I went to her as I have respect for her...She repeated I should definitely join aa again, which I said I would as even though I'd been 6 years sober,my anxiety lead me to pick up again so I said I need help to address why I felt the need to see that as my only option, sorry to bang on but I drank as a last resort!Thought it would give me the courage to end it.

I can relate to that l use beer sometimes for anxiety it can work in small doses . I’m not drinking now so l can accomplish things. Waiting on plumber right now hoping they can fix my 🚿 shower. I have a new person renting from me and she desperately wants to shower . I have been working on it myself to save money but it’s not working out so l have to get a professional to hire a professional and l hope l have enough money to pay him

It's not a good fix for someone who went on a bender before trying to end it!I hope you get your shower sorted.I just wasnt in a good place to make a rational decision.

GP’s are humans, they can mean well but they still make mistakes. I’m sorry to hear your gp didn’t give you the advice you wanted. While AA may be helpful it sound like you could generally benefit more from getting therapy/counseling. You’ve done a great job at sobriety for 6 years and that you should be very proud of. Right now it seems like you need someone who will listen to you and help you find resolve, and find the underlying issues beyond the alcohol. It could help you to focus on working through the thoughts that lead to anxiety, which in turn can also help change your response/coping.

💗 Best wishes

My friend has got me some links for grief counselling as she spoke off record about some issues, just saying what a friend had gone through and they said it should benefit me for my anxiety and the fear it stems from.

Hi, I was just reading up. I caught your post while looking around. I am glad your reaching out. Your making some new plans for support and that sounds great. Thanks for sharing it here, honestly. I hope the best for you... experience, strength and hope..

Plus I am having a face to face with gp tomorrow so I'm hoping she realises I'm not some mental health band waggoner who wants some time off,the fact I've had one sick day in 20 years until now proves that!

Do NOT beat yourself up! Relapse is part of recovery. You do not have to start all over again but you should make a Relapse Prevention Plan - identify triggers and plan ahead. I just emailed you a life changing event I am going thru. It has been two weeks and my family is on edge - fear that I am going to pick up. Six years is something to be proud of, you had a moment of weakness. You are owning it and you will fix it! 🙂
