I was in a panic state for meany months before my medication stabilized me. I still get shortness of breath everyday for the last 7 months. My Dr and Cardiologist said the breathing issue is still from anxiety. Has anyone been through this? What else can I do to stop these breathing issues?

Hello Tfaze I dont have those symptoms from my anxiety. However, my mom when she was going through harsh anxiety/depression periods she would get palpitations and some shortness of breaths. She would go to the doctors and cardiologist and everything came out good. She is doing good now. Hopefully this helps. Hoping you get better.

Thank you. It happens more when I stand up but also when I’m just sitting there. Usually when my mind is t occupied. No chest pains but always scared of it

Maybe take a few steps around the outside patio of the house with someone accompanying you. I use to go with my mom and walk with her in the patio. The sun and being outdoors helped her. It was a slow recovery but she slowly could do it on her own with no symptoms. Not sure if that could be an option for you or if doctors are ok with it.

Maybe try the 5-7-8 breathing technique. Breath in for 5 seconds, hold it in for 7 seconds, and exhale in 8 seconds. Works wonders. Also, if you cant bring the anxiety down, get to its level! Try jamming ur heart out to some insane music, or "shake it out". Basically, shake ur hands as harddd as u can for a good thirty seconds. It feels real nice, like the buzz u get after a run. Hope this helps!

Anxiety does cause my shortness of breath to get worse but I'm often SOB due to lung disease. Some form of breathing exercises do seem to help.

One of the best things you can do for your anxiety is learn to breath through your nose and not your mouth which automatically slows your breathing down and helps lower your anxiety level. A good source of info is the Buteyko Breathing Method for a nose breathing method and information. There is a book I like called Anxiety Free: Stop Worrying and Quiet Your Mind by Patrick McKeown that uses the method for learning and practicing mindfulness which is a invaluable skill for dealing with anxiety.

Also, I found like a lot of people that meds alone didn't solve my anxiety problem, it took learning that I had been taught totally wrong about it and that the most helpful way is to learn to accept the anxious thoughts and feelings, let them flow through me so I no longer feared them. i recommend the DARE Anxiety book and youtube videos for learning what anxiety really is and how to heal and recover from it. I also fond their phone app to be helpful, it's like having your own coach.

How about trying the Wim Hof guided breathing exercises free on you tube. How about 30-40 minutes of cardio exercise daily to produce endorphins.

I don’t know…I’m so out of breath sometimes, I went to the hospital to get it checked out. This was when I couldn’t walk more than 20 meters, one day. They checked every damn thing - heart, lungs, the whole enchilada, but found nothing.

I’ve been going to the gym a lot lately, where I did ok so long as I didn’t go overboard. Then, the other day, I had huge stress and suddenly I couldn’t get up my stairs without pretty nearly collapsing.

So I wondered if it’s a stress thing, after all.

Or I may have anemia again. That’ll make you feel like a heart patient for sure.

Tfaze22, look through this information in your search for managing your panic attacks. Thiamine is a component needed by the brain and vagus nerve for their function but is often at a deficiency as anti thiamine factors diminish thiamine. See stuttersense attachment. The thiamine forms sulbutiamine and TTFD are efficient passing through the blood/brain barrier. Magnesium is a component needed to convert thiamine to it's active form. It too is often found to be deficient in the diet. Search on "krispin magnesium" calculation for daily needs. Magnesium L-threonate is a form that can pass the blood brain barrier and can be included with other forms in calculating daily elemental magnesium. Boron increases magnesium absorption. Search on "nothing boring about boron" for more info. Always consult your health care professional before using any supplement.

Yes I have been hospitalized for acute respiratory which my lung Dr said was from stress my heavy breathing is from anxiety they all thought I had empheza no it's just anxiety had a stress test lung test and walking test done please update me how u r doing my lung Dr told me to exercise and that he was worried abt me

Hi Atthepark, Another name for this feeling of inability to take a deep breath is

"air hunger". When we are stressed to the max with fear upon fear every day, our

muscles in our diaphragm tighten. There's an area under the breast bones called

the "solar plexus", this gets to feeling tight and full and giving us the inability to

expand our chest wall. (not the lungs but chest wall)

The reason your Pulmonary Doctor told you to exercise is because when we move

our body, we can't help but take in a slow deep breath and exhale long and slow.

I had the same thing as you at one time and my doctor ordered Aquatics for me.

Slow but sure, I cautiously started and know that the doctors are right :)

Exercising releases the adrenaline which in turn changes our breathing pattern

which in turn relaxes the muscles throughout the body by putting us in an

Endorphin level of calm. I hope you go for it. It's an amazing feeling to breathe

naturally once again. :) xx
