I'm trying to work on an essay that is about three weeks late but I cannot start working on it without getting distracted. I try to discipline myself and my mind but nothing seems to work. I can't listen to my own advice or others advice. I also did not read the book for the essay. I found it interesting but I COULD NOT sit down and read it. I'm worried that my teacher will notice that I didn't read the book based on the quality of the essay, although I'm quite good at b.s.ing a paper. How do you focus? And how do you focus for longer than an hour?

Cannot Focus!!!
Have you been tested for ADHD? I have really bad ADHD and I can't focus very well
Not exactly. I was given the forms to give to my teachers but I'm not sure if their responses made it to my psychiatrist yet. I guess I'll have to wait and see.
ADHD could be a factor. I haven't even been tested for it, the doctor just said, "She's hyper and can't focus so she has ADHD." It also runs in my family.
Oh, gotcha. What helps you focus?
I take medication. Focalin XR. I only take it on school days and for me it lasts all day.
Hey. I can focus best when I am at a place like the library. It’s bright, has open spaces, and a little background chatter, which I can tune out completely. I find I’m much less effective working anywhere else. Perhaps a change in environment.
Use cliff notes. It's a book summary for those who didn't read the book. 📖🤔😉
