Few days ago I had experienced extreme pain just below my xiphoid process (not bone pain). It felt like I've been punched in the gut repeatedly and also had trouble breathing which was my biggest concern. Because the pain was so unbearable, just to top it off, I starting having upper back tightness (rhomboid muscle?). I stayed in a fetal position on the floor... I didn't know what to do with myself because I didnt want to lay down or stand because couldn't breath right. This continues for 2-4 hours. This happened twice. At first I thought it was heart burn or acid reflux but neither seem to match the symptoms and plus I didnt get any relief with those over-the-counter drugs. Was that a mild heart attack? I dont think so.... but I felt like my heart and lungs were acting up. Anyone ever experience these symptoms? Thank you for your response

Heart and Lung problem?
I have. It was a gallbladder attack. My pain was in my chest, radiating to my back, hard to breathe and lasted about six hours. It was the most horrible pain that wouldn't go away no matter what I did. I thought I was having a heart attack but with no insurance I just waited it out and at times wanted to just die because it hurt so bad. I had an ultrasound that showed stones. I have had other attacks since then. Gallbladder issues are so common, more so in women and seem to be a hereditary thing most of the time. Did your mother have her gallbladder removed? Mine did. Things that set it off are alcohol, fatty foods and recent weight loss due to diet restrictions. Get an ekg and an ultrasound for some answers.
Costochondritis...possibly
Hope you’re feeling better now.
I’ve had costochindritis before, it does feel like your ribs are broken when you breathe in, just a normal inhale of breath is painful. This lasts 2-3 weeks, much better after 1 week treatment. Not sure this is same as you have or not
If you ever feel you may be having a heart attack, which I don’t think this was one, get to the ER immediately, never lie in pain. A mild one still causes heart damage. Take care of yourself, even if it is heart burn, its better to know to ease anxiety.
"If you ever feel you may be having a heart attack, which I don’t think this was one, get to the ER immediately, never lie in pain. " Loved that you mentioned that. I will remember it!
The pain is more located just below my rib cage and I didnt experience any rib bone pain. Melhall mentioned gallbladder and after reading more about it... i think I may have gallbladder stones. When I make my appointment I will still check about costochondritis because these are all very serious conditions. Thank you so much for your response ♡
