Hello One and All and Happy New Year!

I hope all is well and I hope you all will achieve positive things for this year. Today, I would like to share what happened to me back in November 2019 at work.

On November 24, I went to work as usual and as I walked in, I saw 3 Sam's Club workers standing by a register looking at me as if I had snot running down my face and then that's when my anxiety attack started. My face was feeling hot, I felt shaky in my legs when I was walking and I asked myself, "WTF are they looking at me for?" as I approached the vending machine to get a bottle of water before I went in the back to start my work day. As I left, I grumbled something to myself and they felt triggered so one of the managers came up to the 3 and asked them what happened. I walked back because I thought he wanted to ask me what happened. He caught up to me while I was walking and I told them what happened. Then he said that he would "deal with me", whatever that meant. As I went to the back, my supervisor called me into the office. I told her what happened. She knows that I have anxiety and depression. However, the Sam's Club manager found my mental health condition as "unacceptable and hostile". So, I was suspended from work for the day until further notice. A few hours later when I got back home, I got a phone call from the district manager and she told me that she will investigate what happened and she will let me know what will happen from there. About 2 days later, I was told that I was let go from job because of my anxiety attack. I felt so discouraged and hurt that because of my mental health conditions I was let go. I couldn't believe it at all.

Have you guys ever had an anxiety attack at work? If so, what have you done? Let me know.

Omg first of all I’m so sorry that this happened to you. I’m pretty sure that is discrimination and you should pursue a law suit against their company. Start with HR. You hadn’t even clocked in, so they can’t say your work performance was affected by your mental disorder. Either way!!!!! If a person had cancer and their work started to slack off, companies cannot terminate them because that illness is unpredictable and the person with it cannot control their symptoms. This is definitely unfair and I hope you know that rather you choose to pursue a lawsuit against them or not, you will find a job soon that works for you and your mental health. Please don’t give up hope! And to answer your question, my depression and panic attacks affect me severely at work, so I remain silent about my condition and just tell my employers I’m having so issues at home, but after my break, I’ll be 100%

I actually had to resign from my job because of panic attacks. When I had a panic attack, I would go into a dissociation/derealization episode. This was something completely new for me. My job was causing me so much anxiety and I had to leave. So, now I’m getting an online job. Maybe you should try to figure out what specific things gave you anxiety, and try to find a job that doesn’t have that. Also, if you aren’t already, taking medication can really help.
