So I have been on lexapro for over a year now and it has worked tremendously for me. I just have a question and yes I know it's not recommended but my parents 50th anniversary is approaching and i realy want to enjoy the night. I dont drink anymore but I'm looking at getting happy drunk if I'm saying this right. Has anyone on ssris and stopped taking the pill for one night just for a special occasion. I realy been good on ssri but I feel like I dont enjoy the times we hang out drink and just enjoy the night. And I'm talking about beer not any hard liquor. Please no negative comments this is realy not intended to be a stupid question just curious as to the effects of this one glorious night if that's what it is. Thank you in advance for any recommendations and suggestions.

Drinking and ssri
I don't recommend stopping the med at all.
Thank you
I honestly respect your gentle reply unlike lilyannepuppy
She seems to want to help but had an old lady attitude

One less dose is not going to get the SSRI out of your system. Hopefully when you say you don't want negative comments, you don't mean we have to say, "Sure, go ahead?" I think it's fabulous the Lexapro is working for you. Isn't that good enough? The mixture might not make you a"happy drunk," as there's no way to tell how it will affect you. But of course it's your choice. Good luck.
I guess so huh good luck to me
NO NO NO!
I was getting better recently, then I got 2 bottles of Desperado. Bad idea!
I have spent the last 5 or 6 days getting back to where I got to. Luckily I made it back.
Don't risk undoing the progress you've made.
It probably wont take much to feel drunk if you haven't drank in a while. You should be okay if you dont overdo it. I've done it many times before. Definitely dont drink right after you take it or on an empty stomach especially if you're new to the med. I would have very violent puking episodes and a terrible headache. Hydration is very important too.
It's hard to read your initial post and not give caution.
So why did you stop drinking in the 1st place? There must have been a good reason?
Drinking with a history of depression is when I'd use the phrase, "out of the frying pan, into the fire!"
I doubt you wanted that response, but there it is.
I stopped drinking because the doctors said I shouldn't while on ssri
But I've always been that social drinker before I started meds
Anyhow ya'll already answered my question as no it's not a great idea
Good answer! 😉
I drink all the time on 150mg wellbutrin and 10mg lexipro, 2 or 3 beers 2 nights a week but if having more that night I will skip my lexipro before bedtime, never have a problem.
